Project Healty Tails: under budget Greetings! :) So, because of my new tought financial circumstances, I've decided to keep my furbabe's health as a priority, withouth getting me dumbed from my place or starve to dead. My Kiko is my everything, & I don't want to stop providing him with the best I can... That's why I'm here begging for guidance... 1. He's 3yo. Suffers from skin allergies caused by our neightbor's cats fleas. So I've to put him on Temaril-P about 3-4 times a year for his itching. 2. He has 3 baby teeth retained, & is due for a dental. I've saved for that & I'm close from being able to affor that. (It will cost $360) 3. He's on Comfortis for flea control, & I like it better than all topicals because he doesn't rubb it on the carpet & actually LOVES to screw the pill. But he just got his last dosage. Do you know of an association, website, or any way to get Comfortis or any medication at more affordable prices? It's not a secret that vets overprice medications. I'm a college student who recently had to drop my job to accelerate my performance in college. I'm single (no 2nd person support). I'm not asking for donations, just guidance please! He will also need training lessons for his barking, a harness... Omg! Feel stressed because all these expenses came at a bad moment. Thank you so much! Feel free to ask for more details etc Loves, Patty |
Well, this answer won't be popular with some - but - you can get meds from Canadian pharmacies that are usually much cheaper; and now, many of those pharms are carrying pet meds. You'd still need a vet prescription that the Canadian pharm would need. Goes without saying that you need to make sure it's legit, but there are plenty that are legit. So many elderly people get their meds from Canada now...they even organize bus trips, just to get meds! Sad, but true. How much is Comfortis here in the US? |
Try Pet Meds. You will need the vet's RX but they are cheaper than the vet. Zoey had to take one pill for worms and the vet charged me exactly $10.00 more than Pet Meds! $19.00 for one pill. Also, the shipping is free. |
I was going to suggest a Canadian supplier. The flea meds are less from there. I use to have the name of a place. I'll have to look and see if I can find it again. |
I am not sure if this is something you can look into...not sure if any of these places consider baby teeth removal an emergency but wouldn't hurt to look into.. AFRP Financial Assistance for Pets This one actually lists organizations by state...I know a few years ago I tried to get help for a rescue that had an injuried dog and was unsuccessful...funding was in short supply and it was on the east coast...I say its worth a shot to go thru each place and see what their requirements are: http://www.humanesociety.org/animals...rding_pet.html |

I use Revolution for mine and never had a issue. Never had a single flea- Knock on wood. Buddy my rescue is highly allergic to fleas and ticks- Breaks out in a giant hot spot from just 1 bite. |
Another place you might want to check into is Budgetpetcare.com it's in Canada. I have purchased many things from there. |

I used Walmart mail in drug program for all of Abby's drugs except vetmedin which was only available through a vet. $3.00 a month and free shipping for all of the meds she was on. Much cheeper than getting them from the vet. |
