I'm in the market for a new car and are researching online for dog-friendly features. To my surprise, I found this article. It's a little old but I have to agree 100%

The main feature I'm looking for is the auto on/off passenger airbag. My current car does not turn on the airbag unless a certain weight is reached. Therefore, my Mocha is safe in the front seat in his car seat. That is an absolute must in my new car or else I will not consider it no matter how much I like the car. I'm looking for more suggestions on features that will benefit our babies. If you have any ideas, please let me know. Thanks a lot!

Dear goodness I never thought of the airbag thingy....yikes....have to go check my book now...thank you for sharing:thumbup:

AC, lowjack or loctronics, a vehicle alarm that is specific to window tampering, leather interier-you can buy covers, tinted windows, moon roof, rear safety cam, onstar...I saw a program on theraoy dogs trained to pushed onstar in an emergency-nice thought.

That's why I put Tibbe in his airline carrier with stuffed animal toys and buckle it in, in case the airbag should deploy despite the turn-off switch or should I forget to turn it off. It's a big deal - he'd die if that bag deployed and he wasn't in somethin protecting him from it. And in a truck, I have no back seat.

That's a must have feature on my next vehicle too!

Not a doggie feature, but my other must have, is a mix setting for heat. In my Mustang, the heat can blow out at my feet OR at my face...not both, so one end of me is always freezing, especially this week's in the sub-zero temps.

I just bought a car seat for my boy and for this reason, I'm considering to put him on the back seat just to be safe.

PS don't go to the site in the above article DogCars.com I did and got a weird message about the site being hacked by some Bangledesh group :eek: or something to that effect I got out of there and deleted my cookies.
Too bad because I wanted to look into dog friendly cars.

No kidding about the blowing heat on the feet! I have to have that feature on my environment control or I would freeze in winter, no matter how thick my coat!!!

Getting Mina in and out of her carseat is a bit tuff in my Stang. Add a poodle or two and I might as well get in the back seat with them. My next car will either be another sports car (love driving) or its gonna have 4 doors.

I have a Camaro and barely a back seat enough for Buster's car seat and all my cloth shopping bags. It looks like I live out of my car with all the shopping bags. The one thing I wish is that it had bigger side windows in the back so Buster could see better.

The grocery bags live in the trunk. My kids tell me that it is only a "half body" trunk. As compared to a 1 or 2 body trunk. I used to driver a 15 passenger van, I really miss that thing sometimes. Like,getting on the freeway,changing lanes ,,,,comin over,,,thank you. Shopping at Sam's just open that back doors and toss stuff in. Putting my kids double stroller in the back without folding it. The cost of gas,not so much.
I've been thinking about the 4door Coopers or Rogue,but for now I will be showing off my butt everytime I put the furbaby in the carseat in the back.

I drive a 2010 Suburban & it has the front seat airbag feature that you're talking about. I LOVE it! I can fit both of the pups in the front seat in their large Pet Gear Booster. The Snoozer Console Seat works too. I also have a BMW 325i Touring. It has the on/off airbag feature too. But I don't drive that car as much as I drive my Suburban. The BMW is waaaay better on gas, but I really do love the room I have in the Suburban.
