gracielove | 01-24-2013 10:00 AM | Terriers are very different than other dogs personality wise. You can't train them like you would other types of dogs. They have that inborn aggressive and bossy personality. If you fight against it you are fighting something that is not just a personality quirk it is actually genetically placed there. Most terriers, including the Yorkie, were bred to kill rodents. They have that very tenacious, bossy attitude for a reason. I have trained many dogs but met my match when Gracie came along. I had to learn a whole different way of doing things because of her. It's what makes them special. Some people can't deal with it but if you can they are really tons of fun. Just throw out your traditional ideas of training.:) |
