I am so lucky to find wonderful yorkiesittets.... So..I have to brag/speak up whatever you want to call it...I was very fortunate when I moved 3 years ago to move to a town where a couple of my high school classmates live. Eric and Jenny happen to love small dogs and have a yorkiepoo and schnauzer AND love my ruby and Rosie as if they are their own. I totally know I can leave R n R w these two and they will not only treat them like I treat my pups but even better. She texts me updates that includes pictures and I just love it!!! Im trying to get her to sign up for YT cuz I know she would like it as much as I do!!! When you guys have awesome sitters like this how do you thank them? |
We pay our sitter very well and she's always happy to watch our pets for us. LOL I always like the axim if you want to say thank you, say it with money! LOL I'm sure you could find something to give them if you chose to do that. |
I've never had a sitter (other than my mom). I think it is so great that you have your friends that are also your sitters. It's special when you know they love your girls as much as you do. As a thank you, maybe make them a gift basket of things they like, individualize it, ya know? Since you know them so well, you could do that. Or maybe just get them a card and a gift certificate to a good restaurant in town..or movie tickets for a night out and YOU would sit for them. Just some thoughts off the top of my head :) |
I make sure I have lots of chips and salsa for mine :p. My oldest grandaughters puppy and housesit for me lol. |
That's great! I use to have my nephew dog sit for my gang but he moved to Tennessee with my sister a few months ago. I promised my dd that her and I would go on a vacation after Ken died but I don't have anyone to stay with my girls. My sister may drive up from Tenn to stay with them. I would love to find someone I could trust to stay with them once in awhile. I'm glad you found great sitters. |
I took Crimson with us to KY in September because we just got her. We haven't been anywhere since. We board our Pit. My niece or mom always keep Milo. Milo takes meds in the am and pm. A friend of mine comes to my house every other day for the kitties. I would love to have someone come to my house so they all can stay at home. |
Bobbi, you are so lucky! |
I am lucky too. I have two people who are animal lovers that yorkie sit for me if I need them. My stepmother who has two huge siamese cats and loves animals. I have to find a pic of Brandi in between these two huge cats. They look like book ends. They are about 20lb+ and make Brandi look like a mouse. The other person also has a yorkie and she loves animals as well. So I am lucky that I have two people who care and love Brandi just as much as I do. Of course, I also pet sit for them as well and they know their little ones are absolutely safe with me too. |
We hired pet sitters to take care of our dogs while we were away to a funeral last week (Thursday - Monday). They came 4 times per day for about 1/2 hour each visit. It was the best option we had, and really the only option. Things went real well. They even sent us a daily update via text message and once they texted us pictures of the babies playing! We looked forward to our daily update. For anyone in the Frisco, TX area, they are Amore Pet Care (in Frisco) and I feel they were reasonable at $19 per trip. |
When we adopted Bailey, we had three trips planned during the next month. We didn't know what we were going to do. I was talking to one of my local vendors and she told me who kept their little Boston Terrier. We called Kathy, went out to visit her home, and instantly knew we had found the place. She keeps 4 small dogs at a time and we have to book her almost a month in advance, sometimes two! |
That's awesome. $19 is less than paying for boarding for one. And I have 5 :) We go camping alot and we take the dogs with us. :) We just can't go in alot of places so we go grocery shopping before leaving the house. |

I do not know the answer to your question. However, we pet sit for a gorgeous Shih Tzu in full coat who was being shown in the ring but was placed with our friend as a pet. She is 'perfect' in every way, including her 'downside'...being 'too friendly' for conformation in the show ring. lol Our friend loves our Yorkies as much as we love her Shih Tzu, and would/will puppy sit for our two Yorkies if/when we need/want it. She has brought us gifts back from her trips, and we generally send Sunny home with new bows, treats, food, toys, something...lol...because she is like 'our other fur baby'...our 'pseudo pup'...just not resident with us all the time! :D We feel it is unnecessary for our friend to bring gifts, which she does anyway despite any applicable financial circumstances to show her appreciation, because WE had the privilege of cuddling (spoiling...lol) HER baby for that time...:D...and THAT is thanks enough for us...to be trusted with her precious Sunny! We accept the gifts because we feel it would be rude after she has gone to all the trouble of choosing them for us when she should have been out having fun....same as we would for any other gift from a friend for any other reason. We neither need nor expect 'payment' since we offered...as a friend...to care for our friend's puppy...and she understands she is not obligated...she wants to bring the gift...as a friend...so she does and nicely listens while we protest and thank her for doing so. :p Of course, the situations between us and our friend, and you and your friends may be very different, so don't take my word for it...:p...do what YOU feel you should...IMHO, you are the best (only?) judge.. :) |
I have a friend that the two of us watch each others pets. When I go away I usually find a small gift for her that has meaning and I find one of the holistic pet stores where I am and bring something back for her crew. If your friends are into wine, for example bring them a bottle or 2 from the place you went to. It is something small to say thank you. |
