Ears standing up? Hey, my baby girl was born in April and being 8 months old now her ears still are not up? Is there anything i can do to get them up? Thanks |
I'm afraid not at that age. The breeder should have worked on the ears in the early weeks when the pup was still with her/him and then should have let you know what to do to get them the rest of the way up and keep them up. Some Yorkies are just destined to have downed ears. Although many could have been brought up if caught early enough. I'm sure your baby girl is adorable no matter what :) |
Tucker is the same age, his ears are floppy too. Personally, I think it looks adorable! :) |
Oh, well I do think that it's adorable. lol. But i was planning on breeding her when she was older, is it still ok even though she has down ears? Will she pass it on? neither of her parents had down ears now that i think about it...Thanks for the replies |
My Zoe has floppy ears...but her pups are 12 weeks and their ears are up...so I don't think that is a breeding issue...but I am no expert...it will be interesting to see what the real breeders think. |
I was curious about this as well. My Sydney's parents both had ears that were up but hers are down (she is 8 months old). In the future if we ever decided to breed her, would her puppies be more prone to have floppy ears? |
1 Attachment(s) Well, you have to get an electric shaver and slowly take the hair off the ears. You shave it down and let the cartilage be able to settle in so they can form to point up. Right now only one ear can stay up and one ear just flops. It's your choice, but floppy ears is not tenchinally a genetic, its the way the dog is born. I shave his ears once a week. The pic is of him right now when I post this. |
I like the floppy ears though, they'll stay floppy, but if it is not settled they wont be able to flop up, and they're disqualified in showsif they dont have the "perky ears." |
Well, the one is your picture is a little puppy, and my babe is 8 months old... |
