OMG very bad haircut for my baby HELP!:( hi guys so i just moved to canada and today after a month living here i decides to take my baby to the groomer (once a month he takes a bath and trim his hair) so i went to this store where they were supposed to be "experts" and have experience with yorkies and i was confident and left him there. i brush him twice a day every single day, i take extreme care of his coat and im extremely peeky about his look... i like his moustachse long but not toko long i like his ears round, not pointy and i like his face with long hair (breed standard) i showed the groomer several pics of him right after beong groomed wherw we used to live! she told me she was going to leave him just as the pictures and aince ahe was really sweet i felt good and said ok! surprised when i got back my dog no longer looked like a yorkie but more like a fox-chiwawa-coyote mixture. she trimed his face in a triangle choped his eyebrows and moustache completely and left his ears pointy ohh and his legs ended up looking like chicken legs! i have no words to express my anger and my feelings atm so i just told her i liked the work and left. im really sad and spent some hours crying since i really take care of my dogs hair! has anything like this happened to you before?? and do u know any PROFESSIONAL GOOD AND EXPERIENCED groomer in toronto? thnx a lot for your support |
I wish you hadn't said that you liked it. But what's said is said. Next time this happens you really need to let them know that you are NOT happy because they did NOT follow the pictures that you clearly showed them. I don't live in Toronto so I, unfortunately, cannot give you any suggestions of local groomers. But, luckily, it is hair and it WILL grow back. In the mean time, just keep him in clothes. That's what I did with Zeus' first bad cut. I know it's not the best, but it works. |
First of all, it will grow back. :). I think all of us have had a bad cut. Mine had chicken leg look in the back and the groomer left the front legs long. I was upset too! But it will grow back. But I do think you need to let them know you were not happy. They should at least refund you what you paid. I'm sure your baby is still adorable! Hope you can find a groomer you are happy with! |
Sorry you had such a bad experience but try not to cry about it because that might upset your little guy who probably already feels off sense he got his hair cut off and everything. It is just hair and it will grow back. Next time you may want to stay with the groomer to make sure they do what you want. |
This is really sad!!! I don't even have my Yorkie, Princess Sophie, yet but... I would contact the store manager and let them know what happened. Chances are, this has happened to someone else at this establishment and the reality is, nothing can be changed unless we report it. Think that you are actually are doing this establishment a favor by bringing it to the manager's attention. If enough people complain, change will be made. I am really very sorry to hear about this and hope you find a groomer that really knows what they are doing. |
I am sorry and I can imagine your frustration! 1. Make sure you tell your baby boy that he is beautiful. If he sees how upset you are with his hair, he will feel bad and think something is wrong with him or his behavior. 2. The hair will grow back. When Max was a puppy, I trimmed his paws way too short and I intensely disliked the look. I couldn't wait for those paws to grow back! 3. Have you considered grooming at home? The cut you want sounds like something you could easily do at home. Buy a good pair of scissors and clippers. Since you already brush every day, you and your boy will work well together. If you decide to try another groomer, be sure to give an honest opinion on their work when they finish. I know that uncomfortable feeling, but you have to speak up and say, "This cut isn't at all what we discussed." Hoping tomorrow is a better day for you and your little guy. |
oh :( everyone is right it will grow back but I understand about you being upset. I however would not have said I liked it and I would not have paid for it especially had I taken pictures in for them to see what you wanted and they telling you they could do it. |

And yes, the hair does grow back - hopefully quite quickly!! We've probably all been there...I remember Harry's 2nd cut, and the lady cut his ears waaaay too short - he looked like an owl! :D Please give him a big hug from Harry and I too! :) Sally + Harry x |
I would call up the shop and find out when the owner is in and I would go down with pictures of before and after and the pictures that you showed the girl. I would explain that this is not what you wanted. Pictures say a 1000 words. Yes hair grows back but it is also good that they are not doing what the customers ask for |
Luckily yorkie hair never stops growing. I really understand your upset...it's much like having a child with beautiful hair and then having to trust a new hairdresser with it. I'm really a HUGE advocate for "word of mouth". It would have been a good idea to have reshown the groomer the pic you'd originally showed her and expressed your disappointment. It's ok to be honest. I feel she needed to take responsibility for a job well distroyed. If ever you were to play dress up with your baby...NOW would be the time. Don't cry and be sad...please. Get him a nice new outfit lol!!! My sister lives in Toronto (I'm in Montreal...). She also has a yorkie, but her baby doesn't have a lot of hair and she HAS to keep her hair short short short. Not sure if her groomer is a good one but I'll ask her where she goes, but she told me a while back that she has 2 neighbors on her street that have yorkies...they have to groom them somewhere... I speak to her each and every Sunday (today!). I can find out the information if you like. There are a TON of conscientious yorkie people in Toronto FOR SURE! :) Keep in touch... :) |
Another bad groomer story :( I'm so sorry this happened to your baby. Personally, I've been so afraid to take Yoshi in for a grooming after the last groomer chopped off his top knot. It's taken MONTHS to grow back & it's still not long enough to keep out of his eyes all the way. I tried to do his ears by myself the other week & it was a disaster! I did a horrible job! Can anyone reccommend a GOOD grooming video? The ones I've seen on YouTube aren't great & I'd love to learn the correct way to keep Yoshi from looking like a ragdoll in between searching for a good groomer. |
You could always try cutting it yourself. Althought ive tried before and lets just say its not as easy as it seems. :p I'm sorry though, I know how that feels! Luckily its just hair that'll grow back. :) |

I now take mine in to the groomer... Just to groom their bodies!! Their heads are off limits as left to me! Sounds weird, but no one ever seems to get it right! |
Dont worry it will grow back..Foxy has had tons of horrible cuts , some I even did myself..lol..Do you have a picture of your baby that you can share? |
