Anxiety Jacket Have any of you had any luck with these jackets? I think they're also called Thunder Jackets. I have a lovely, sweet, little boy, but he tends towards some anxiety issues. I priced them today at PetSmart and they were not cheap. Wondering if anyone found this to be a good investment? |
I have not used one but I have heard from other people who have tried them and they swear by them. I also heard that sometimes it is not an "instant" fix but that if the dogs wear them more than a few times, it gets better. Good luck. I would check what the return policy is at the store and if you buy it and it doesn't work, then see if you can return it for either store credit or money back. |
I have the thundershirt and I swear it fixed Callie being afraid of thunder storms. She wore it for thunder storms for a few months and then once i did not get it on her in time and she did fine. Before the thundershirt she would pant, pace and shake now she could care less. It also worked well for fireworks. If you get the thundershirt and it dosen't work you can send it back for your money back. Thundershirt | The Best Dog Anxiety Treatment |
It didn't work for my dog. He still has separation anxiety and he wore it for quite a few times but I have heard good things about it. They are quite expensive at almost $40 per piece. |
I have one for my little guy and girl and they love to wear it. I got it for the car because Max gets car sick, didn't really help him with that. Thunderstorms and fourth of July - seems to work. They both anxiety issues with having their nails trimmed and the thunder shirt helps with that also. On of my co-works has a lab that is afraid of storms and he will go to the closet door when he starts to get a sense of the storm and whine until his human gets it out and puts in on him. |
I've read enough good things about it, I think for $40.00, it is worth a try. Some dogs really do calm down more when wearing things that compress them. If it doesn't work, maybe you could pass it on to a rescue or shelter to use on those scared little things they so often get in. |
Thanks everyone! |
