Snatch and Run! Khaleesi's latest thing has been to snatch anything she can and run. She thinks it's a great game and DH doesn't help by "stalking" her and doing the foot shuffle! So, whenever she wants attention (and if she's not getting it, it's because we're busy) she will LOOK for something to snatch. Yesterday it was my bra as I was getting ready for work. Today it was my wad-o-TP as I was sitting on the potty!!! I'm going to have to retrain HIM (DH) before I can address HER behavior! Arghhhhh! Do your babies do that for attention? |
Mandie is a snatch and runner for sure. I don't know if she does it for attention or because she just thinks it is the best and most funnest game ever invented. lol |
Tee hee! I'm sorry to giggle, but that scene is so familiar around our house. I can't tell you how many times Katie Scarlett has ran off with bras, panties, underwear, socks, papers, etc....all because she is not the center of attention. She is like most Yorkies, always wants to be the center of everything. We haven't found a way to curb this behavior, but so far we just find it funny and laugh. So I guess it is as much our fault as it is hers. She just gives us that cute look and you can't help but laugh. Can you tell who is the boss around here? ;) |
socks...everyday when i get home i put on my flip flops and now i just give my socks to keylo...she runs a couple of laps and returns them to me or hides them in her bed. she loves tp and paper towels...yeah my yorkies own me for sure!! haha. its cute but dh doesnt think so when she tears tp into a thousand pieces. |
Tibbe loves this game and I frankly encourage it as he is so cute while doing it I can't resist. He's a good boy otherwise and never does much of anything out of the way but this wild hair grab and run it so cute I can't resist! He just loves to get pretend chased and groused at to "You give me back my sock!" or whatever he's got. He loves getting chased and always winning the game. One of the first things I want to get on video when I get my new camera. |
Hahahaha...sorry...had to let that one out...:p Hope that wasn't your last wad-o-TP...;):D Brody will snatch, Mia, too sometimes...some things, but thank goodness they don't run. Mia just wants the attention, will play with you and her 'trinket' for a minute and give it up for kissy-facing. Brody will turn his butt to you and bury and hide his 'prize' with his face, paws and body, like jammed down into a corner of the love seat, etc., and 'guard' the contraband until the human gives up. If you show interest too soon afterward, he will snatch it away again...and the game is ON!!! :D |
Omg, Joel is a bad snatch and runner. When im getting ready in the morning he can tell if im leaving and he goes crazy trying grab my socks or anything im using to get ready. Unfortunatly we played chase with him when he was little so he's crazy, he grabs something he's not supposed to have and runs if he thinks you'll chase him and if you don't he goes in front of you tossing it around, haha :D |
Hahaha! She does look SO CUTE with her head thrown back and her ears pinned down - zooming like lightening! I'm just grateful no one has a video of ME flopping in the breeze and tinklling down my leg as I chase her down! |
oh my goodness just as I'm reading this post.....here comes Chloe with a sock my son just took off..... lol |

O I can't quit laughing!! That describes Ruby to a tee! She is so dang fast that I barely get time to react before she has zoomed under the bed with the item. |

When Callie was a puppy we called her Klepto Callie. She would take any and everything. She stopped after a while of being told no and growing out of it. |
Yip, Alfie will do it forever, comes just out of reach and drops his prise until you move then he is off again. He MAKES, me chase him round and round tHe coffee table until I nearly faint. |
Guinness had a thong one day and was running just as daddy was coming in the front door so next thing I know I am stuck chasing him down the sidewalk with my thong panties screaming for him to stop grrrr |
Hello. This is my first post although I've been lurking around the forums since I got my 2 month old Yorkie a few weeks back. Chronos is also like that. Just the other night he went to my dad's office and took a bag of coins. LOL! :D He also does snatches my slippers when I'm on my laptop and leaves everything on the rag he has all his toys in. |
Victoria Stillwell said don't fight the dog for the item, "trade" for it. Huey learne0d that lesson well. Whenever he wants a treat, he will snatch something so he can trade. Little stinker! As I was typing this, I had to stop and get a rubberband away from him. He will take my slippers off my feet while I am getting ready for work. Oops, speaking of work, I gotta go to bed. Nighty night, all! |
I think Snatch-N-Run is a favorite game of all pups the world over. Lollie has grown out of that phase, but Tess the Boxer pup is a pro. |
Well if you say "leave it", etc., those trained to do so will drop it but who wants to unless they snatch something dangerous to them? But I imagine we don't leave things like that really lying around so that's not part of the game. But like OP described, he "cloches" those ears back, pinned tight to his head and his eyes are walled and just zooms with his new prize 'cause he knows I'll chase him even if I'm half-dead. That's pretty much one of the things I can't resist is watching him enjoy the snatch and run and chase game. Boy, I hope no one gets me on video some of those times! |
The only thing Brandi wants to play snatch and run with is cat poop. I've chased all over the house trying to catch her and when I do, I have to use my bare hands to ply loose the kitty treat in her mouth:mad:. Fortunately i put a stop to that game rather quickly. |
Gracie was quite a thief as a puppy. I had to puppy proof the place and keep checking everything to make sure she could not get into things. Closet doors had to be kept shut, trash baskets that she could knock over had to be picked up, had to make sure things were kept off of end tables. She still loves to have a game of chase now and then. She only uses her toys now though. She will come up to someone with a toy in her mouth and bark as though to try and dare them to take it from her. It's a great sport for her. She is fast and it is quite a mission to take anything away from her. |
These stories are so funny! Thank you for sharing them. |
I lay my work clothes on the bed before my shower in the morning, and Joey always sits with me in the bathroom. When I get back to my room hes is all stretched out over my clothes. Thats about the only thing he does with my stuff. Other things is he plays with the blankets when we scratch the bed underneath. |
Daisy would always snatch socks when she was a puppy. She wouldn't even let you put them on before she would be pulling them off your feet and run. Outside she was a terror for grabbing gardening gloves and car washing sponges. We were at our wits end until we got Teddy Bear when she was 6 months old. He would chase her and grab the item from her and set it down and guard it until we would get it from him. It was so cute. What a smart little boy he was. Sure made life a lot easier for us. |
"Guinness had a thong one day and was running just as daddy was coming in the front door so next thing I know I am stuck chasing him down the sidewalk with my thong panties screaming for him to stop grrrr" Oh no, don't make me wet my pants! LOL :yelrotflm:yelrotflm |
Jack never was one to snatch and run, thankfully. Izzy on the other hand, well, she is the expert snatch and run artist! She is just so quick and like the others have posted, she thinks its a game. I use "drop" with Jack and he will drop whatever he has. We are still training Izzy and it is a work in progress...she is still the winner. But she is just so cute, its hard to say no to that little face.:D |
i wish my girl did that, i had a ferret in high school and it would do that as a game and seemed to love it. |
