question someone might be able to answer i just got my 8 week old puppy 2 days agao. He is a quarter chiuahuaha and 75% yorkie. mother was full yorkie and dad was half chiuahuaha half yorkie. i was just wondering he has a little stuffed animal and he appears to be "humping" it! Is this normal for a pup this age? also any other things i might need to know oin raising him would be great, Thanks! |
Lucky "humped" his bear around 10 weeks. I pretty sure that's normal puppy behavior. :p |
Pippin did this and when I posted the question, people told me it had to do with dominance. You might put 'hump' into the search box and see what you find. |
erevyone told me at that age "humping" was about dominance...... |
First I like to ask those that have had humping at a young age Question as I am really curious. What is the dogs behavior in general attitude now that he/she is older? I ask as it a question I have had from when I came across a 8 week old non Yorkie humping me when I ask him to do anything he did not like. It is a lack of social skills,& lack of mother dog telling him no and not able to handle stress as well as it should. The pup I ran across did not come to live in my home and was since been diagnosed with extreme aggression. Owners where told to fix it and not breed him at all. Now that was a dog humping at 8 weeks a human and I am not in any way saying that is a concern with a stuffy but I am curious what you see as owner now the pups are older. Call it research and teaching me things I need to know as a trainer in training. I would think little one you have needs to relax in his new home and give tons of social time after he settled a little. Joy |

It's not aggression! My little Yorkie did it a couple of times at 8 weeks when I first brought him home. Haven't seen him do it since. My four year-old Bichon actually has a stuffed dog named peaches that he's in love with (humps) and he has been neutered for years. If the stuffed dog isn't around, he doesn't do it. This little guy doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body. He's sweet, gentle, and shy. Carol Jean |
