BTW whar size washable pad are you using and how big is lexie?

I believe they are 24 x 24 .... I also buy the throw away ones too that size from Walgreens they are from Hartz and a light lavendar color...when I buy the blue ones she doesn't use them...the girl is silly and knows she is a girlie girl...lol

Lexi weighs about 4 1/2 lbs.

Penelope's pen looks super close to Chewey's pen! *HI FIVE* We've got the same play pen, same crate, same ol' potty pad. Funny.

Chewy is doing awesome in his pen, btw. He doesn't sleep in the crate though. He's sleeping on a towel that his litter slept on (the breeder gave it to me at pick up) out in the open. May just take the crate out to give him even more room.

Only DOWNFALL of this pen is that it's not easily opened. Even jury-rigged that it is since I took a panel out, I keep it closed. So Chewy only eats/drinks when he's in his pen.

Haha! Yay! /hi five! My husband swears there is a "trick" to opening the pen. My mom has pinched herself with it (gushing blood!). I don't usually bother with opening it haha I'll pick it up and put it in a corner or I'll sit in it with her to play. She doesn't really sleep in her crate during the day but I like to give her that option lol. We had some kids over yesterday and I could tell she was over it when she walked into her crate at 7PM (her bedtime is 10PM)!! She just was tired and done with the kids lol... We also have a baby gate we put at the door to this room and just pick up the pen and put it in the corner when we want her to roam around and play. She sleeps in her crate at night but it's on our nightstand facing my side of the bed. We take her out at night to peepee on a pad in our room. She does a good job! Screamed a little the first night but we wanted her to feel cosy and safe in her carrier so we want her to get used to it as much as possible. Oh and I wanted to add that too much room may allow him to pee in places other than the pad. She does a great job in the pen but roaming.. we have to watch her closely. I hope Chewy is doing well with the puppy pad training!

:eek: I can totally believe it. These things are crazy difficult! Shame too 'cause I really wanted Chewie to have access to his food/crate during the evening when he's out and about. But I just keep it closed.


Hmm, you've got a point there about too much roaming room. Didn't think about it that way! Here I wished he had more pen room (I took out a panel to make it smaller so it would fit in my space) but maybe this is just enough...

And he's doing okay on pad training. I'd say he goes on the pad when he's in the living room about 65% of the time. He's better in his pen, using it 90% of the time. The problem is, the rubber mat I have under the pen isn't big enough, so I had to actually put a pee pad down in a corner to protect my rug. I put it upside down, but he still goes there too. My fault I guess. ha

My mom had this pan under the pad for her dogs: Martha Stewart Pets&#0153 Waste Pad Tray - Martha Stewart Pets - Dog - PetSmart We don't have one right now but it hasn't soaked through yet /crossing fingers. I know we should get her one but we are going to eventually transition her to a different type of potty so we won't be using pads forever. The tray will have the pad exposed so if he is like my mom's dogs... he might play with it lol but it's the size of a full pad. :)
