spay question Trixie will be getting spayed on Thursday. I plan to take off Friday and Monday to be home with her. I did buy some newborn onsies...is there anything else I should get or have on hand? |
Why are you getting her spayed so young? Sorry that was off topic! Do you have a confined small area to keep her in if you step out? |
If you don't have a play pen I would get one it can be very hard to keep these little guys from running around a jumping. I hope everything goes well. |
How old is Trixie? I'm sorry..I must have missed that. I would recommend having some pedialyte and a dropper or syringe and also a little chicken broth. The reason is because the first day or so after Mandie's spay, she wouldn't drink water on her own so I would give her water and some pedialyte with a dropper throughout the day. She also didn't want to eat but if I gave her some food by hand she would eat a piece or two. What really helped was drizzling just a little bit of broth over her kibble. She ate that right up and then it kind of kick started her into eating and drinking on her own. One other thing, due to the meds or the pain or both, she became constipated. I would recommend having some mineral oil on hand just in case this happens with Trixie. You can put a little bit on her food and also a little on her bottom. |
She is 6 months. Is mineral sold in the grocery store? |
I hope everything goes well. My KS was spayed at 6 months and everything went fine. I kept her confined to our den so she couldn't run. I also had stairs so she could walk up onto the couch. She did great. I wish you guys the same. :) |
We do have a very large crate she can stay in if I have to leave but I don't plan on leaving her alone. I will make sure someone is watching her always. |
Just give her lots of love!! They dont understand why they hurt and just want mommy to make it better!! My little girl did great at 8 months and 2.4 pounds...Im sure she will too! |
I got some nutri-cal to have on hand for both of mine. They did not want to eat for the first day or two after they came home. A pea size drop every 4-6 hours worked great - I knew they were getting some calories. |
