Ugh! Waggin Train again?! Sheesh! This is why Mandie only gets carrot sticks. *sigh* |
Yep. Best to stay clear of wagon train. |
Good then maybe they can make a case for FDA to get rid of them permanently |

They were sending dogs into kidney failure. |
Well, interestingly enough these are the same treats that have been killing dogs or making them very ill. I don't think the symptoms they've suffered from are caused by antibiotics. However, this does give them an excuse to at least say, "hey, we've found something that shouldn't be there, these must be recalled." |
Does anyone know why antibiotics may have been there in the first place? just curious.. |

Finally these companies are doing the right thing- Kinda of! |
Great... I've been feeding our two outside dogs these treats. At least they are big dogs; German Shepherd and a Great Pyrenees so they should be less affected than small dogs. |

Not true, keep an eye on them, the best you can since they are outside dogs. |
I did not mean to say they would not be affected just that in the realm of toxicology the main factors to take into account is the Body Surface Area of the patient (or animal), my larger dogs would have less of a chance for toxicity than a yorkie. I will definitely keep an extra eye on them. Thank you for posting this :) |
Very interesting article, I've been reading about this and this is the first time anyone found something that could be potentially hazardous. All the other reports were saying they just couldn't find anything that could make the dogs sick, but this article says that they found "found trace amounts of antibiotic residue in samples of Waggin’ Train and Canyon Creek Ranch chicken jerky products. These antibiotics are approved for use in poultry in China and other major countries, but are not among those approved in the U.S. " This seems to be the problem in other areas as well, China using some element in the manufacture that wouldn't pass in the US. These companies that buy from China have to make sure every element of the manufacturing process would be approved in the US, otherwise forget about it! Consumers have to be extra careful in being foods that aren’t produced in China at any stage. |
