My little doggie is so wonderful I just thought I would post something nice instead of asking questions or complaining about something Beanie is doing. I was SO sick Saturday and Sunday, like sick in bed and my doggie (who is totally hyper and, at times, very difficult to deal with) just slept under the covers curled up against my stomach with me. She seemed to know that my stomach was sick and she did her best to comfort me by licking my stomach and smushing herself against me. She is such a wonderful little creature and I can't even remember what it was like without her. These are the things that I remember when she is driving me crazy!!! |
Thats so sweet. :) I think these amazing little yorkies are so in tune with their owners. Its amazing. My little Farley is so attached to me, and if i am up and busy he follows me everywhere and is busy . When i am sick or tired he does the same thing, just stays with me. A quiet good boy. We have 4 dogs total. But Farley is all mine, I always say " Who loves his mom the most?" lol. I love him sooooo much. They are amazing little dogs. |
There is nothing like the love of a yorkie. |
AWE, I just love those special moments!! |
:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: I hope Cinders gets to that point. She walks on my side with those tiny little feet when I'm laying down and it really tickles... |

I know what you mean, I just love her so much. She is my first dog (well we had a beagle when I was like 5 years old - I am 56 now), so I don't really have a frame of reference for how other dogs are. I do, however, think that Yorkies ARE really special dogs. |
It sounds like you have a very special relationship with your little one and we all here know exactly what you mean. These babies are so very sweet and loving and grow so quickly to mean so much to us. I'm so glad you found a Yorkie to love. |

Yorkies are special!!! Like i said , i have 3 other dogs besides Farley, and yes i love all of them, but yorkies are special. |
My hub was in a car accident new yrs, and Joey will go lick his knee (he has a cracked knee cap), and also snuggles near his back when my hub is laying down. Its so sweet, I really do feel like they have a 6th sense about these things. |

I just love my doggie!! |
Oh how sweet! =) Blazer comes running any time one of the girls (or a visiting child) starts crying. He starts acting silly to try to get them to stop (at least that's how it always looks!) Whenever I'm feeling icky and lay down he comes to cuddle, or lays in his kennel next to me and stays calm and quiet. |

Beanie just seems so much more than just a canine to me. I KNOW she is a dog, but she seems to relate to me like I actually am her "mother" and does all the things that dogs do with their actual doggie mothers. O.K., so I HAVE become a crazy dog person, what can I say. ahahahahahhhaha:D |
Aww, what a sweet girl :) Yorkies are definitely special! |
That is so sweet! Mandie hasn't reached that connection with me yet. I had a bad migraine this past weekend and she still found it necessary to squeak toys and bark. LOL My big boy is another story. He is hyper, too. However, when I get sick with my migraines, it's like he knows and will just lay by feet or my head the entire time. When I let him out, on a normal day he barks at the squirrels, but when I'm migraining - he doesn't bark hardly at all. I just think Mandie is still too young to get it. She still can make me laugh when I'm sick though ... love that about her :) |

It seems these dogs are very intuitive and sneaky. |

Until you are owned by a yorkie, people don't truely understand how special they really are. They are so smart and have the intuition to know how you are feeling! The bond to one person is so fierce that they will love you unconditionally for life. That is why I  yorkies, especially mine! |

I would be interested in hearing from people that have Yorkies as well as other dogs. |
I think it depends on the dog. I have seen alot of other dog breeds extremely attached to their owners. I have had a Weimeraner that was extremely attached to me. I NOW have: A black labrador- 2 years old. He loves both my husband and myself, and everyone else he meets. We adopted him at 4 months old. Prefers to sleep in the living room. Puggle/Jack russel mix. The people were going to kill the whole litter because they didnt want the mother( jack russell) stuck at home with puppies. They should spay their dog if they dont want her preg. DONT GET ME STARTED, lol Anyway i bottle fed the whole litter 6 puppies. And we kept graham, he is very attached to us, but very neurotic- anxious. Likes to sleep in his kennel. Jack russell/ rat terrier- VERY ATTACHED TO MY HUSBAND. But loves everyone else just as much. HATES TO BE HELD, by anyone. And wants to lay next to my husband. Prefers to sleep in his kennel. Very independant. ANd then Farley, THe other dogs love us , but farleys attachment to me is different than all the other dogs. HE HAS TO BE WITH ME. And he doesnt care if my husband is near by, he barks until he can get to me. He has to lay by me. And when he is ready for bed, he barks by my bedroom door till i go to bed. Now, i must say i do think it makes a difference that they are so small, we hold them all the time, and take them everywhere.. etc. But after having multiple dogs, he is the only one this attached to me. Has to sleep in bed next to me. Or wherever i sleep, he must be with me. However if i make him sleep in a kennel he sleeps well too. |
Maybe it does have something to do with the size. My toy breed dogs have all been lap dogs that had to be at my side all the time. No matter what I was doing they were there to inspect and investigate everything I did. We also had larger breed dogs and they were very loving and friendly but were not the kind to follow me or anyone else around (unless food was involved.) If they were taking a nap they finished the nap and of course they were not sitting in a chair or a couch with me. |
I have a lab and she loves me and tried her best to be a lap dog. However she prefers her independence. She goes to her crate when she's ready for bed. Joey though, when I brought him home I did the same thing and he refused it all. I do pit him up when we aren't home but he hates every second of it. |
Lexie is unlike any dog I've ever had. She's a seizure alert dog for me, and who knows how she even does that! She's so intuitive about my moods. And God forbid if I'm sick. A couple of years ago I got a horrible stomach bug -- the kind where you're on the toilet with a bucket in front of you for 2 days. Lexie would stay next to my feet the whole time, even laying her little snout across my feet. She would look up at me and just whine very softly. It was soooo sweet! She's amazing! |

I started Beanie off sleeping in a crate, but no way now she would go back in there. She is too used to being in the bed with me and being able to just spread her long, skinny legs out. She is also very much a lap top, which is where she is now. I guess maybe that has something to do with it too, big dogs just can't sit on your lap, even though they might want to, like another poster said! |
I agree , and having 4 dogs is ALOT. lol. I used to say i would never have more than 2 dogs. But working at a veterinary clinic you come across sooo many things in need. I only went out looking for the jack russel/ rat terrier. I went and picked him out. Then i was given the yorkie THen i bottle fed the whole litter of puggle mixes, and i even gave them all away. Then Graham was brought back to me cause the owner had major health issue come up and when he came back to me i couldnt let him go again. THen i fostered and found homes for LOTS of puppies and old dogs and kittens. ANd went a couple years and said there was NO WAY I WOULD HAVE MORE THAN 3 dogs, lol Then along came Wilson the black lab puppy, i agreed to foster, and after a month, we knew he wasnt leaving. I think from all the fostering i have done, and bottle feeding, now that my dogs are adults, they are so easy. Now if i take on a puppy or kitten that needs bottle fed, it reminds me of why i dont want a puppy or kitten lol. My dogs all are in a perfect routine, and all get along great. They are all boys, and life is easy. We have no kids , so they are definatly like my children. And although i said i would never have more than 2, i would never trade any of them for anything in the world. |

Good for you for taking care of all these dogs and cats and helping them find homes! Oh by the way, Beanie burps like a freakin trucker. I didn't even know that dogs burped!! It is so freakin funny to hear this BELCH come out of that little body!! |

Beanie is such a cute name. I have never ran into another dog with that name , even at the clini where we see sooo many. |

I named her Beanie Boo because she is like a little jelly bean, hence Beanie. Plus when I was young when something was really small, we used the word beanie to describe it. Don't ask me where that came from. LOL So, since I knew she was going to be a little doggie, I thought Beanie would be perfect. I didn't want to name her Chloe or Bella (like my cousin kept saying) or any other fru fru name. She is kind of a tomboy, not a girly dog. Some people love the name Beanie, other people are like huh? So, I call her Beanie or Boo Boo or the Beanster. She answers to all of them. |
