Is there a certain age my Yorkie has to be to microchip? I'm new to all this and I was curious at what age can I get Button microchipped? She's 9 weeks old tomorrow (1/6/13) Thanks in advance!:):):) |
Hi, We have a yorkie named Alfie he is now 7months old. We had him chipped at the same time he had his 2nd vaccination done at 12 weeks and he didnt seem to mind it. Hope button is well |
You can have him chipped at anytime. The sooner, the better in my book. Most get them done at spay/neuter time if it wasn't already done by the breeder. But if Button still needs a round of shots, may as well get it done then IMO. :) |
All my Pups get chipped at 12 weeks, before they go home. I feel 12 weeks is a great age to get them chipped. hugs, |
Like everyone said, you can get them chipped at most any time =) It probably would be more convenient to have the micro-chipping done while you're already at the vet for shots or spaying/neutering. Probably the sooner the better, though. If she gets lost, or heaven forbid stolen, being micro-chipped might be the only thing that gets her back home. Congrats on the puppy! ^-^ |
:) poppy was chipped at 11 months , at the same time she was spayed xx |
Brutus was chipped when he was neutered and had his baby teeth pulled. He was 6 months |
I had Joey microchipped when he was neutered; although so many say it doesn’t hurt, I didn’t want to take the chance that he’d flinch. |
Both of my girls got chipped when they were spayed. |
I had Gracie chipped when she was spayed. She was a skinny little thing and I could feel the chip under her skin. She has since put on some weight so I don't feel it anymore. I don't think I would do it before 12 weeks of age. If you are having escape problems then you may want to get a cat collar with an ID tag until you can get him chipped. |
I got it done at the spay and neuter but you can do it now if you want its safe at any age |
She go goes to the vet this coming Saturday so I am going to get it done then. =] thanks for all the advise and input! =] btw if I have no plans to breed her what's ideal for spaying her? |
