Teeth care?? I'm on a roll. This is my second post tonight about teeth. My Yorkie is 14 months old. I'm going to the pet store - what do I need to get to take care of his teeth. Toothbrush - toothpaste -- etc. Any other suggestions. I keep reading about Yorkies losing their teeth and would like to do whatever I can to help prevent this. Thanks - Carol Jean |
The things they chew on also help to keep their gums and teeth strong. Also, a good solid kibble is important. Soft foods are really not good for their teeth because they allow plaque build up and don't keep the gums strong. |
Chew toys are great for their teeth. Princess gets her teeth brushed every day. At first she didn't like it, but I won, she has to get it done. :D She also goes in every month to be groomed, her teeth are cleaned there as well. The Vet said to start her off young so she would have healthy teeth as an adult. :) |
My Sam does not like when I brush his teeth, so I have resorted to this stuff I heard of from Petsmart. You put it in their water and it helps remove built up plaque. I also give him pig ears every once in a while and carrots are also helpful. Hope this helps you! |
Well - my dogs do eat carrots - and they eat their dry food (when they feel like it.) I am going to get a toothbrush and go for it! I think my one dog, a bichon, is due to have her first cleaning at the vet. She is 5 years old. And, the vet said that they are not very bad, but it's good to keep on top of them. Bichons, like Yorkies, are known to have teeth problems. But, my vet said that Yorkies do have the worst! Thanks for all your replies and help. Carol Jean |
