Baby teeth My dog is 14 weeks old, so I have a while to wait - but when do these little guys start losing their baby teeth with new teeth coming in? I'm prepared to keep an eye on mine - and have some baby teeth removed, if necessary. Carol Jean |
My guy started losing teeth at around 4 1/2 or 5 months. They are so small that you may not even notice them. If you play tug with the dog it helps them out because then you will have less to be pullled out. It is good for them. Hope this helps. :) |
Thanks for the advise. Todate I have tried not to play tug of war with my puppy - afraid that it might hurt his tiny little baby teeth. But - you're talking about doing this later on when they are starting to come out - right? Does anyone else do this? I think you must be right with 4 1/2 to 5 months because I have read that when they get neutered at about 5 months - that's a good time to have their teeth checked and any removed, if necessary. Thanks again. Carol Jean |
You may notice more chewing than normal during teething. They seem to know how to work on them to get them out. I doubt you will have to have any removed. Some may take a little longer but I bet they all come out as they are suppose too. |
I hope I don't have to have any removed. But I have read so many times that their new teeth can come in (without their baby teeth being out) leaving both teeth in the mouth. This can cause placement problems, and this is why the baby teeth have to be removed. Carol Jean |
