My dad used to put raw egg on our first dogs dog food every once in a while before it was thought of as bad he said it made her coat shinny. I would never give my dog raw egg heck I would never give her raw anything :)

If you do give raw eggs, you are reducing the risk if you wash the egg shell. Apparently, bacteria can get in the egg when you crack the egg shell. By the way, any of you who have ever eaten raw cookie dough, probably have eaten raw egg! :p

I have given some raw eggs to Jackson in the past. I haven't in a while. I don't give him the shell though, just dump the yolk out over top of his food. He loves it, never caused any problems, and I do it mainly just for something different, but I hear it's great for the skin/coat. He does get scrambled eggs every time I make some.

I am obsessed with cookie dough... I'd rather it that than the actual cookie, LOL

Me too, once they're baked I have some control, but when making the dough, I'm so tempted.

I have given mine fresh raw eggs- Neighbors have chickens- Can't get any fresher. They love it.

Buddy the golden gets the egg shells too sharp for the yorkies.

My girl is on a commercial raw diet but sometimes I will make her a raw meal. An occasional raw egg is fine. Dogs have the ability to digest raw food where humans do not. I occasionally mix part of a raw egg in Gracie's food but not as a regular thing. I buy locally, organically grown chicken and eggs. Not sure I would feed a mass produced egg to anyone.

Raw egg is a bad idea for another reason. There is an enzyme in raw egg white that will interfere with the intestine flora creating a deficiency in Vit.K. Cooking the egg will destroy that enzyme and not cause a Vit K deficiency. If you want to give raw egg, yolk only and that is where most of the protein is anyway. BTW for those with arthritis or older dogs with arthritis, egg yolk is an inflammatory, makes it worse.
