Another thing to watch for is the health guarantee. The less reputable sellers will give you a "health guarantee" with tons of loop holes that they use to protect themselves. Many will say they will give you a new puppy if your dog is found to have certain genetic defects. Most of these defects are not found until the puppy is older. Would you want to give your puppy back after you have had it 6 to 11 months? I doubt it. Most people are too attached after only a few hours. Some guarantees promise the puppy will live 24 to 48 hours and if it dies you have to have an post mortem done to find the cause of death to get your money back or another puppy. Just another thing to watch for. |
Hello and welcome to YT. The YTCA website is wonderful. I called and spoke to a few breeders in my area. The ones that did not have puppies recommended other breeders and also a few clubs. It was very helpful. I wrote down a list of questions to ask. It was great to weed out the bad from the good. Also sometimes if the pup is a little older then 12 weeks like 4 to 5 months old the price drops. |
On my blog I posted the list of questions I used. It might be helpful http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/blo...questions.html |

New yorkie With that said a rescue Please be careful and see what you are getting into I had a Rescue Yorkie that was From HELL...............please do your homework first before you do this. A puppy if you are not wanting to show and want to pay a bundle for 1,000 or 700.00 is the about you are going to buy because of inflation. I may get a lot of hate mail But my babies Miss Bella was 1,000 and Jackson was 700. |
Yorkies are a wonderful breed. Once owned by a Yorkie ~ always owned by a Yorkie!! Welcome to YT and good luck in your search!! :) |
Welcome to yorkietalk. You'll get a lot of great info here. Since you are looking more for the pet versus the bloodline, I recommend you find a rescue facility. We have one here that specializes in small dogs. You might want to give your local dog pound a call. They usually are connected to the rescue places and can maybe give you some names. Or better yet can give you some references in your area. We found Bailey on Craigslist. You have to be careful there because there are scammers who want to rip you off. But if you do your homework and your timing is right, you can find a little boy or girl who needs a home. Good luck! |
Welcome to YT. Have you considered a Biewer? A near relative of the Biewers. |
