I used the Puppia step in vest harness that DBlain linked to when Gracie was a puppy. It worked great for us as I was able to control her pulling very well with it. I never left it on her as she has a long coat. I have never cut her down. The first link looks like something comfortable for around the house but I still would not leave a puppy alone with anything on it in a crate or any where unattended. They are just too prone to chew, twist and turn and possibly get something caught around the neck. Once the pup is an adult and you know they are past that stage it is different of course.

That Puppia step in vest harness is very easy to get on. You wrap it around them and tighten the velcro then snap the top clip and yo are on your way.

Princess not only eats her harnesses and cloths she will literally eat the cloth harnesses off the boys!

I have a noname brand of think leather rhinestone harnesses that have survived.

The real key was both supervision and their thickness as they have been chewed.

you are right I would never leave the dog in any type of clothing or harness when not at home, not even a sweater.

I attached pictures of Lola in some of the harness dresses from the link I posted, as you can see they are very fashionable:D I know that lots of people put d rings on clothing but IMHO not all would be safe for going for a walk in. But these are made much stronger and Lola has walked miles in all of them with no problems. I think because I have so many that the velcro stays in good shape, if I was using the same one day in and day out it might get a bit worn, but that is the same with most things that get used constantly.

They are adorable! It is a good idea to have on for a quick trip out to the potty, too. I have never used a harness dress or coat. Gracie could probably use one now though. When she was a puppy she was such a puller that I think she would have worn the D ring attachment out in no time. She has learned to walk at my side because we take trails through the woods. We do have wildlife so I keep her close. I'm going to have to get her some harness dresses for spring though.

Cute little dog as well as the dresses. My little Yorkie is a male though and I named him Rider because he rides with me on my motorcycle so don't think dresses would work well for him. :) I do like the idea of a cloth outfit though that might be more comfortable for him. Maybe I can find one with a skull and cross bones on it :) Thanks everyone for the suggestions I think that should help me decide on something for my little buddy.

yes I realized that, that's why the link I posted was to a male harness, without the skirt and the pattern was of dog bones. LOL did you see that, if not I forgive you because you are probably like my husband and only pay half attention (if even that) to what ever I say:D If you look at her site you will see there are many male patterns to choose from including denim. Most of the people that sew this stuff do custom work, they can apply patches and even embroider so you could even get something made with Rider's name on it if you choose to. The harness I have from Wallmart is Black, that's a great color for motorcycle riding :p
