Two rows of front upper teeth My yorkie is 6 months old and has two rolls of teeth in front on top. Is this normal and when should I expect one roll of them to come out. Most of other teeth have been replaced. |
That's very common in yorkies. I don't know why but all of mine had to have spare teeth removed. Adie had a nickname of Shark Tooth till she was spade. That is when the vet removed them. I believe they are baby teeth and have no real roots to speak of so the vet won't charge much to remove them. When are you going to neuter or spay your baby? That would be the perfect time for you to take care of them. They probably won't fall out by themselves. |
charlie has just had his castration chip and his deciduous teeth removed he is nine months old.Here in the UK my vet charges £42 to remove the teeth only. |
Hi, Toby also has an extra tooth but only on the one side. Was wondering if had some advice for me: we are talking about having him spaded, but was wondering if we should not at least give him one shot at mating. What is your take on this? His 8 months old |
Yes, yorkies are known for having trouble losing their baby teeth on their own. I would definitely wait until 8 months of age to have your pup spayed/neutered if it hasn't already been done. This way, while under anesthesia once, the teeth that need to be removed can be done at the same time. They will definitely need to be removed, though. If not, it can lead to fast gum disease as the food can get stuck in between the rows. Make sure you brush your pup's teeth well until they are removed. ETA: Just saw the post above mine. Why are you wanting to mate him? Curious. |
Teeka is 6 months and has some double teeth, too! One is loose and ready to fall out. The new teeth should help to push the others out! If not, a vet might have to remove them. |

Same here, MY Male Sneakers had double K9's, which I had removed. |

Thanks for the replys. I stopped by Pet Smart also yesterday and asked the receptionist and she said not to worry about it unless they have not come out at 9 months then have them pulled. My Yorkie was neutered at age 13 weeks when I got him so doesn't need that. I guess at 9 months if they haven't come out I could have his teeth cleaned at the same time if he is going to have to be under anesthesia. One concern that I had about leaving them until 9 months is that the extra teeth might throw off his bite by messing up the adult teeth and also if teeth tend to be a problem in Yorkies that it might be harder to keep the adult teeth brushed well. Any thoughts? |
I don't think it will throw off his bite if you get them pulled as early as 9 months. As always, though, I'd call up the vet and ask this question for peace of mind |
Lol I thought I was the only one who seen that before. my yorkie jayz had 2 sets of teeth and it freak me out :eek:, basically its time for the baby teeth to go, when i took him to the vet, she told me that he's fine and that they will fall out, so i gave him a toy and they were falling out R.I.P JAY-Z :aimeeyork |
