yorkietalkjilly | 12-30-2012 05:32 PM | Welcome to you and Buttons. Hope you enjoy YT and learn a lot, have a lot of fun here. Study all that you need to watch for in hypoglycemia in one this young and tiny - it can kill them in no time - and just read all that you can on YT about how to best care for a very, very young puppy. Yorkies have no judgment to speak of as far as their own physical safety when up on furniture and often walk close to the edge of tall beds, couches, etc., so watch her at all times and don't trust her to keep herself safe. Get her doggies steps to allow her to get up and down from furniture without stressing her tiny joints for years and years of jumping. Keep her on a good schedule and vet her according to her vax protocols, learn how to brush her teeth as Yorkies usually have very poor dentition and that's pretty much all I can think of right now.
Oh, and tiny dogs are easy prey for owls, hawks, other birds of prey so watch her at all times when she is outside if you live far out or in areas where predators frequent. Thieves of the 2-legged variety are also often out looking for Yorkies to steal and sell.
Well, enjoy your new puppy and don't be a stranger! |
