Pawz boots anyone? Today I was able to get Wallee to walk wearing the socks I bought him a while back. They stayed on pretty good and he didn't come in with snowballs on his feet. Now I want to try the pawz and am wondering how many of you use them with success? I also watched an amazing you tube video on how to use the tops off water bottles to put the pawz on easily. I'll find it again and add to this thread. |
No I haven't used them yet. Here's a link for you: Pawz Dog Boots - Rubber and Disposable |
I'd love to see that video. I tried Pawz when I first got Mandie and I couldn't get them on to save my life. I know it's user error because they have rave reviews. I just can't get the little hole to expand enough to put her paws in... |
How to put on the Pawz boots Here is the video I found on youtube for an easy way to put on the boots...now..to find a bottle that Wallee's feet will fit in...lol |
Oh wow. LOL! I never thought her feet would fit in bottle holes..now I have another way to torture her. I'll be chasing her around with my water bottle to see..stay tuned lol |
Hehehe. I thought Wallee had the only mom who tortured. ;) |
A couple of thoughts... First, that cat is hilarious! "Miiiine! Plaaaaay!" Second, that's genius! Where do people come up with these ideas?? I just finished a water bottle so I'm cutting it out right now to see if it'll fit Zeus' paws! :D |
ALRIGHT! THEY FIT! Heather doin' the neutron dance! |
after searching for different bottles, I realized that all bottle tops are the same size (they are in this house anyway). HA! That is pretty darn smart. I actually did it. I only tortured her 2 times..when it rains next..she'll get all 4 paws done. LOL! Thanks for this post!! |
I wonder how many YTers will try this? :D. I'm curious, so off to the kitchen I go in search of a water bottle! I think Betty Boop's feet are too large. :p Clever idea! |
Okay, I'm back. It worked pretty good putting them on, but there wasn't much room to slide her foot out. I used regular socks, though. I bet it works really well when using the rubber shoes. |
Ok for those of you who have made it work. How big are your babies feet? I don't think Wallee 's feet will fit... |
Zeus wears the XXS (Yellow) Pawz :) |

Mandie's paws are about 1" x 1" |
I've never seen this video! What a great idea. |
Some people are so darn clever! |
To those of you who use the pawz boots... are they slippery when your puppy walks in them? Or do they have good traction? Just wondering. Thanks. |
I want to share a caution my vet gave me about using Pawz boots (or similiar completely plastic/rubber boots), after I first bought ZoE some last winter. He said they are fine for short term use, where you salt the walkways outside, yet your dog needs to walk on them to get out to go potty, but he doesn't recommend them for long-term use in extremely cold temperatures. He said dogs sweat through their paws, and the rubber holds the sweat in & it freezes, making the dogs paw colder than it would be without them. And that for long outings in very cold temperatures, you're are better with a boot with a lining that wicks moisture away from the paw pads. |
Thanks for the info. I'll take that into consideration before purchasing them for this cold weather. |
Woohoo It All Works! After posting the video last night and hearing the positive feedback I was dying to try it myself. I had to search around for a little larger bottle as Wallee 's feet are 2 inches. The boots went on like a charm. Getting them back off was a struggle though. Do those of you who tried it find them hard to get off? I hope the ones I bought are the right size. From the measurement I got it appears his foot is 2 inches. I got him extra small which says up to 2 inches. The smalls say 2-2.5. Any suggestions? :animal-pa |

I had some trouble getting a hold of the top. Since it was my first try I think maybe they were a little rolled. Tomorrow when I try I am going to try to slip a swizzle stick between them and his foot. He is pretty fuzzy on his legs and I kept pulling his hair which of course he protested about. |
Video how to put on pawz Just reposting for those who missed the video. |
Ingenious! Great explanatory video. |
First I have to say love the cat. I have an inspector also. . .needs to see what you are doing and if you are doing it right lol ;) I think it is a wonderful idea. And if you have bigger paws there is those 2 1/2 liter bottles or the inexpensive soda with the larger mouths |
