Training Any tips on making my 10 week old Sadie go poop on the training pads? She uses them to peepee, but poops in hiding spots :) |
I'm sorry your post got lost in the holiday shuffle. Welcome to YT! I'm not sure my way will help because it is still a work in progress with my 8 1/2 month old. I just praise her a LOT when she poops on the pads. If she doesn't poop on the pad, I will pick up the poop and put it on the pad and show her and say "poo poo pad. good girl." And, I'll leave it there for a little bit before discarding of it. She has her spells where she will do good and then decides she wants to "show Mama" that if I would just take her outside ON TIME, she would poop out there. I know she is doing this because when the poop is not on the pad...it's right in front of the back door. lol |
I was gonna suggest moving the poop too. and dont let the puppy have free run of the house to be able to hide poop. Or, if shes pooping in one area, put a pad there too. Maybe she doesnt want to pee and poop on the same pad. |
Well, the best way is the old fashion way. You have to catch her in the act! When she starts to circle or sniff get her to the pad and stay there with her. Do it gently because if you startle her she may not try again for a while. Many dogs don't want to step where they just went pee and since many do circles or kind of walk around when they go poo they avoid the pee area. Try to keep the pee pad clean. But getting her to the pad on time is the major objective. No untrained puppy should be let out of your eye sight. |
thank you guys! also anything for her not to eat her poo? she's been doing this and worrying me! |
Try feeding her pineapple. That helps to stop poo eating a lot of times. |
i put my pads where they like to go |
