Water goes right through her My yorkie doesn't drink water often, but when she does it seems to go right through her. She could literally drink, come in the living room and pee. Is this a normal problem because she's a small breed and has a small bladder? |
How old is she? |
She's 4yrs old. and she's not spayed. |
I'm not sure how long it has been since she pee'd last in regards to when she drank the water and then immediately pee'd. That might play a role. If she's peeing more frequently than you think is normal, it wouldn't hurt to have her checked out at a vet..make sure she doesn't have some issue with her bladder. To answer your question, Mandie doesn't do what you are describing so I don't think it is a size/small breed thing. |
Zoey probably peed about 2 or 3hrs before hand. She was also running around and playing like crazy. |

Because I hadn't gotten her spayed yet. However, I will be getting her spayed soon. She wasn't bred or anything, and we never planned on breeding her. I just didn't have the $600 it cost to spay her. Now that I have a new job, it'll be much easier to get her fixed. |
Mine usually have to pee after they drink..... especially Seeger. He gets a drink as soon as he gets up (from night sleep or naps) and immediately has to pee. Now Seymour takes BIG drinks and it don't seem to effect him as much. I think the answer depends on the dog. If you are concerned, go with your instinct and have her checked out! By the way..... Welcome to YT! |

$90 for female dog Wormy checking out ;) |
Who told you it cost $600 for a spay! It may cost that much for a horse but not a Yorkie! My little girl does not pee right after she drinks. Are you saying this dog is not potty trained? |
At my normal vets it cost $480 just to have my rabbit fixed. My yorkie would cost about $550+ pain meds. I switched vets, and am now going to one about 25min away. The people are much more friendly and actually play with the dog and they seem to really care, as for my old vet you pretty much went in and got out.Oh and compared to my old vets who charged $50 for office visit, the new one only charges $35. When zoey got tested for lymes disease it only cost $53, and it would've cost around $75 my older vets. So it's a lot cheaper at the new place I'm going to. Right now she has to go through her lymes disease treatment, then she goes to get her teeth cleaned, but I might ask if they can do the spay and teeth cleaning at the same time. |
Many vets will combine procedures during one surgery in order to save the pet from having to be under anesthesia more than once. If your dog's teeth are very bad then they might want to do it at a different time. If it was just a regular cleaning then it would not be an issue. I don't know what made your other vet charge so much money. It does not sound like they gave great service. Many pets get referred to Cornell School of Veterinary medicine around here when they have some complicated problem. It has a lot of very good doctors and advanced technologies. It is very expensive but not as high as your previous vet! |
