New Puppy I need some opinions here. My husband bought me a yorkie for Xmas. I've had several in the past. The first thing I noticed was her size. The Breeder swears she is is going to be around 3 lbs full grown. I weighed her and she is a bit over 2 lbs at 12 weeks old. My husband purchased the puppy from Scotts Puppy Palace. They swear she is a micro, but I have my doubts. Has anyone purchased a puppy from this breeder? Does anyone know what weight she should be at 12weeks if she is supposed to only weigh 3 lbs? |
I can't get it to copy on here but here's a link I used when I would have puppy's in the past but she should only be maybe a pound and or still in oz not almost 3lbs ... But she will make a great furbaby either way hope this helps you Yorkie Weight Chart, tiny, teacup yorkshire terriers |

congrats on your new pup.. i think she will be 4 to 5 pounds full grown.. you normally double the weight at 12 weeks and add 1 pound.. even at 4 or 5 pounds she will still be an extremely tiny dog... you really have no control over how "big" she will get. i think it is more important that she is healthy and keeps gaining weight and grow up strong...:) |
Well your pup came from a puppy mill so I would worry more about there health at this point then there size. Also there really is not a 100% way to tell how much they will weigh especially sense the breeding is done so crappy at puppy mills. There is also no such thing as a micro or teacup yorkie. |
As a comparision.....Teeka was 1lb 14 oz. @ 12 weeks. She is now 26 weeks and weights 3lbs 4 oz. She has been putting on between 1-2 oz a week. I would estimate your pup to be around 4-5 lbs. which is a perfect size! Enjoy your new baby as they grow way too fast!!! :aimeeyork |
HI and welcome. I would take your pup to the vet and her her thoroughly checked out. I took a quick look on google and found the following info: http://www.complaintsboard.com/compl...s-c345330.html |
Hello and welcome to YT. We encourage people do do research before buying a pup. I would take the pup straight to the vet and make sure she is healthy. Usually you have some guarantee for a few days. That is the most important thing. As per the AKC Yorkie is a toy breed that ranges from 4-7 lbs. teacup is used by people that want to make money off of unknowing people. Congrats on your pup. Please stay and join in our discussions. There are a lot of wonderful, knowledgable people her |

On the AKC Yorkie page : Yorkies are easily adaptable to all surroundings, travel well and make suitable pets for many homes. Due to their small size, they require limited exercise, but need daily interaction with their people. Their long coat requires regular brushing.
