Warning phone number If you get ANY call from a number or persons you do not know, regardless of what they say they are calling for, DO NOT SPEAK TO THEM, simply ask where they are calling from: Example: someone is calling from your bank and your account has been jeopardized etc., simply ask them which bank, immediately hang up CALL THE PHONE NUMBER THAT YOU HAVE on file for your bank and go from there..... Do not fall for any scams and this is a simple way of making sure you don't. I just had a phone call that sounded so legit from a number I did not know, I googled it while on phone and found info that it was a scam. I called the company they claimed to be calling from and it was NOT them. I then blocked my number and dialed the number and it said "can't be completed because it is a Skype caller= SCAMMER. Again, Please when getting any kinds of calls from anyplace, verify where they are calling from and then hang up and contact whoever they said, using the number you have on file for the company they said they were calling from...may sound rude but it is the only way you can be assured that your dealing with legit companies. Apparently these people are making lots of calls TODAY...sound legit, are not....trust me on this YTers.... e.t.a.: phone #661 748-0240 = VARIOUS SCAMS |
Good advice! I had someone call my cell phone about a year ago telling me my debit card for my checking account had been compromised. I said, "Oh really. Okay, thanks," because then they wanted me to give THEM info. I hung up and called my 800 number for my bank and they said it was the first report of this scam to them but it was NOT them and my account was fine. |
I never answer 800 or 888 or any of the other odd area code calls. I figure if it is anything important they will leave a message. There are so many companies that get your number and then sell it to other companies. Then there are the robo-dial calls. |

Oh, wow! Close call! I have heard enough bad stories I don't talk to anyone that calls from any financial institution or call them back at the number they give. If I do get a call like that about anything financial, I just call the number I have listed and see if anything is up. Also, I don't talk to anyone that calls to offer anything such as different phone service, trips or electric service, etc. Any response can be used in any way they want. Mostly, my Answering Machine screens all calls and I just listen. Think this is tied somehow to your recent identify theft or loss of credit card - I can't recall what happened to you exactly as I am brain-addled right now as my son just called to say the snow is going to prevent him coming for Christmas(!) but could this be tied to that or is this just the regular old scammers at work? |

Same here - I don't answer them. If it is important, they will leave a message. |
