carrots Do you feed it cooked or raw? |
You could probably do either, but I know my girl LOVESSSS raw carrot sticks. :) |
Both Alfie likes to use a full carrot like a chew toy and thinks that cooked carrot is a special treat |
Raw carrots in our house.. We get the baby ones for potty treats. |
Awesome. Jasmin loves cooked green beans and raw baby carrots. She gets one green bean and baby carrot a day. Hope that is not too much. |
Callie will only eat cooked ones |
Baby carrots, raw...my girls absolutely love them....they eat several a day! |
Hmmm interesting.. I'm going to have to think about this one. Sounds like a good idea. |
It really depends on the dog...raw carrots give Princess upset tummy & she had blood in her poopie once:eek:, she can tolerate cooked or dehydrated carrots well. Mimi prefers cooked carrots, silly girl, she smells & tastes food like she's a food critic loll. The boys love both, cooked & raw. |
It's also good for poop eaters Vet told me about it it works |
Hailee, who I have resusitated more times than I care to remember, has almost choked to death from trying to scarf dow a hunk of raw carrot....so since THAT drama, all carrots are cooked around here....cooked and diced into fine pieces. I would imagine it depoends on the dog...if they habitually scarf down food, swallowing it before they even chew it, I would cook them....if they have enough sense to chew and knaw on the end, and then chew up what breaks off, I would think they could handle raw carrots. |

DH won't let me give Blazer baby carrots any more. He thinks that Blazer is going to choke on them (they were his favorite treat/chew toy when I first brought him home.) If we have cooked carrots he'll eat those but I will also give him raw big carrots to chew on. |
Fortunately, Mandie doesn't scarf her food up really fast so she's never had a problem with the carrots, but if she did, I would be hesitant to give them too her also. Get this: I get home from work yesterday and hubby tells me the following... "The vet said the only people food she can have is carrots and green beans. Nothing else. That's it." I looked at him like he had 2 heads. I replied, "The VET told you that, huh? You hadn't heard that from anyone ELSE before? Like say...me...say 50 times??" LOL! Men! |
