about ear we been see that Fancy left ear been moving a lot more and she been rubing it on the rugs and we not to sure whats going on. and we did call the dr but we are waiting for them to call use back. so I thought I would come on here and see if ur dogs have been doing that. and too her left is lower then the right one too. |
The most common problems with dog ears are ear mites and fungus infections. Ear mites cause itching that will drive them up a wall once it gets bad. The fungus is caused by water getting down into the ear and staying there long enough for and infection to start. It can also be itchy and can grow into a painful and itchy problem. Your vet is the best one to diagnosis which one is the problem. They will swab the ear and put the material under a microscope to determine what it is. Both cause a brown substance to grow down inside the ear. Many times you cannot see it until it is really bad. |
we took her to the dr since it was red. but they didn't see anything in her ears. but they did give us meds for the ears before it get to bad. and we go back in 2 weeks to have them checked again. I hope they are better. |
Hope the meds help! Let us know, ok? |
it seem to be working some. I hope it does fix whatever it was bothering her. since they couldn't find anything. all they think it could be was algers however u sp it. |
That's too bad that they could not find anything. I hope that what ever they gave her helps. |
yeah me too. me and my mom tryed this morning to give it to her. she just fight us big time and this is the first time she bit me where u can see it. she play around like she going to do that but never did. she really didn't want her ears mess with today and she has to have 2 time a day. I hope that she will let dad do it. if she don't then I don't know what we are going to do. |

we was trying to gentle mom was holding her when we did get it in her left ear that was hurting more. but she was fighting mom and she chouldn't hold her any longer. so mom try to put them in while I was holding her just the same way I was when they put it in the night before at the dr office. she let the first person to look at them and put the thing she look in at. and the dr did the same and she let them do it. but for some reason she wont let us to it. but then again it was very early when we did try it. so maybe later in the day she might let us. but then again she might not. so my dad might have to do it. if he will do it I don't know. even though she is mine not his. |
I agree that if her ears are red inside they are probably very painful. It would be nice to know what your vet decided to treat her with. Some of the insecticides they use for ear mites can really hurt an irritated ear. They have some brands that have aloe in them so they are less painful to use. Really the irritation should be resolved before putting an insecticide in the ear. Try wrapping her up in a blanket so you have more control over her and hopefully she cannot bite. Maybe consider asking the vet about it if it is that painful for her. When you wrap in a blanket you want just the head sticking out and a snug enough wrap that the legs can't get out if she struggles. I hate to do that to a dog in that much pain but I don't want anyone to get hurt. Please consider having your mom talk to the vet about it. I really don't agree with treating an animal for something when they don't know what they are dealing with. |
Do you get her ear hair plucked? Princess my mini schnauzer seems to get irritated when the hair starts growing back in-I use hydrogen peroxide, to soften skin & hair, and follow up with coconut oil treatment. |
we have meds for the ears she just don't want us to use it. and she does have some pills to take now since she was throwing up yesterday but she wont takethe pills no matter what we do. but we have giving her pills before she would take them not to much trouble. but this time around she going to give us a lot more trouble with it and eatting. but I know she not feeling good so that might be why she not wanted to eat yet. but we will try the food on her later. but she does have to take the pills if she like it or not. just don't know what else to try on her. one is a half a pill and other one is a whole pill. |
Good luck. |
thanks we will need it. |
Sounds like she is really sick. Try putting the pills in some ground meat. You can break the pill if it is too big and put it in some ground meat. |
but she wont take it in food all the time. ever now and then we can hide it only when we know she will eat the food. we tryed it tonight with her last pill for the day but she wouldn't eat anything. but she did like some of when it broke up so she did get a little bit of it. I guess that better nothing I guess. or at lest I hope it is. we will find out on friday when she goes back to the dr. |
It sounds like she is quite sick. I don't think would wait a week to take her to the vet. Most vets sell a thing called a pill popper. It is a plastic syringe like thing that goes into the back of the throat and then you pop the pill down the throat. They usually work pretty well. They only cost about $5.00. Did you try fresh ground meat? Usually dogs love some raw meat because they usually don't get it very often. |
she goes back to the dr for a check up to make sure she getting better. and I never heard of a pill popper before. thats something we might have to look into. but lot of the time she take pills. but since she fight use on the meds for her ears she to tired to take the other or just don't like the smell of the other. I don't know about the raw meat. but we might try her on some ground beef or something. we will see how thing go for tomorrow. |
Glas you are going back to the vet, see if they can take the pills they already gave you and crush them into a liquid (sometimes they have chicken flavor) get a needless syringe and it sounds rough but... Have the vet demonstrate fingers behind k-9 teeth hooked and holding head back dropping liquid in. Its not the nicest but when they beeds meds it's better than staying at vet's on IV. |
She sounds like she is sick. An ear infection can be very painful and could cause her temp to go up. If they are giving her an antibiotic she really needs to get it regularly for it to work properly. Hope she gets feeling better soon. Try not to touch her ears when you pet her or play with her. If they are very painful it could cause her to bite or nip at you. |
we are trying to get her to take the pills. but we might have to have the liquid to give her. she wont like staying and I wouldn't like it either if they had to do the iv and stay till she better. I would tell them to find something else. I will tell them she not stay not even few hours there with out me no matter what. I had to leave her one time when she got fixed and I had it then. just trying to look up other way to find out how to give her pills. |
I hide a pill in a tiny bit of chicken baby food, but I get them licking it first with no pill, then hide the pill, then have another blank taste ready right behind the taste with the pill, so they think about the next bite instead of the lump in their mouth. Cold baby food is a bit thicker than room temperature baby food so it may be easier if the pills are larger than smaller. |
I never thought about useing baby food before. that is something we could try. I did try the chesse give her few pices but she wouldn't take it. she just don't want to take anything that we give her no matter what we do. I am just so scared right now. |
Is she eating her food? |
Make sure any peple food doesn't have dog toxic ingredients such as onions etc. I used Earth' Best baby food, many use Gerber. |
Praying your little baby gets better! Please be patient, when they don't feel well, they get very nervous about everything :( |
