Name Ideas for My New Little Guy? Hi, I am the proud new owner of a precious 6-year-old male Yorkie. I adopted him from a rescue, and he has already made the sweetest pet. He is very gentle, well-behaved, and sweet. The problem is that I can't decide on a name for him. I want to name him after a philosopher, psychologist, poet, artist, or the like... or give him a foreign name (preferably Russian) or some other distinctive name. I've thought of tons of names, but I haven't found one that fits yet. I want it to be cute, yet sophisticated or artsy. Any ideas? |
While I'll probably never have a boy yorkie, I've always known that if I ever do, his name will be Henry! Then I met a little boy yorkie on a rainy walk in the park with ZoE. He was named Winston and he was just the cutest little thing in his yellow welly-style boots & yellow raincoat. Ever since meeting him, I've kinda liked that name too! Congratulations on getting your yorkie. I hope you find the perfect name that fits his personality :) |
Alexander (Sasha for Russian nick name), Claude Monet (painter), William James (psychologist), Leonardo da Vinci, Pablo Picasso, Vincent van Gogh, Edgar Allan Poe, Marcus Tullius Cicero (Generally Cicero is the name people would use) and I know that I have a lot more names that I could give you, but that is all that comes off the top of my head right now. I figured if you liked the sound of any parts of any of those names you could pick it out and just tell people oh I named "Edgar" after Edgar Allan Poe ... or something? LOL I love dog's to have more serious names XD (If it were me I'd have a hard time deciding between Cicero, Edgar, or Sasha ... though I would happily name my dog any of those names because I think they'd all be cute) |
Dexter, Fletcher and Stuart were/are my 3 boys (1 passed long ago) but I love Alex. :) |
How about "Wilnston" or Lord" Byron". Puck or Oberon (king of the fairies) from Midsummer Night's dream...Loki is the trickster from Wagner's Ring, and also a cute arty name :-) |
If we would have a little man it would be "Rhett" Butler from Gone with the Wind. |
*sigh* I'm in the same boat here thinking of a male pup name. I can't think of a single name I find cute yet unique. Look at my girl's name...pretty unique. Trying to match it with a boy name for a possible new puppy early next yr. I was thinking of composers as I was a music major in college. Gershwin, Scarlatti, Chopin, Mozart (thinking of Mose), Giuseppe Verdi, Debussy, Sebastian (JS Bach)...Idk :( |
Tolia (nikiprowetzky) ... |
Darwin...I just love the name Darwin... |
I doubt I will ever have a male puppy, but I'm partial to regular people names. So my little guy would probably be Bob.:) |

Well I went with what you said and came up with ... Raz for short of Rasputin he was considered the czarinas (Czar Nicholas wife) personal astrologer and many considered him a magician. Or there is Dali after Salvador Dali the artist. Just a couple of ideas ;) |
