One thing to remember about Yorkies is that they were bred to kill rodents. They have an instinct to bite and shake. If you have one that latches onto your hand you can do the yelp thing and say "NO!" but don't rip your hand away. Moving your hand will incite the pup to bite harder and encourage the pup to try it again. Let your hand go limp and reach with your other hand and remove the mouth gently. Give the puppy something that is acceptable to bite. It takes repitition and patience but the pup will stop. Never allow the behavior without teaching the lesson.

When Bailey and I are playing and he starts biting me, I just say "OWWWW" and he immediately stops. Took a little bit for him to catch on, but I know he doesn't want to hurt his daddy!

Yea and that instinct is 100% still in mine... That is why I finally had to start biting back like how mom's nip them... Now mommy getting presents of mole and rat heads in bed part I have not figured out how to stop :mad::thumbdown

Thanks everyone, I appreciate all your comments and suggestions. The humping has stopped for now. The biting is getting better as he's learning to bite lighter, and I am using the toys and the commands. He knows how to sit and speak now too, so we are getting there. He is the most adorable thing I ever laid my eyes on and I am so glad we got him.

I don't remember Huey nipping that much, but at 4 years old, he mouths my fingers when I get home from work, almost like he is sucking on them. It is only after I have been gone for a few hours and it is like a greeting. He does it to my husband, too. As for the humping, I got him fixed as soon as the vet said it was ok-he was 6 months old. He still has to mark every other mailbox on walks (down from EVERY mailbox), but he doesn't hump people. He saves that for his special friend, a squeeky raccoon (or my parents King Charles Cavaliers, lol) Unfortunately, he goes to town on that raccoon daily, and even when we take it away, if he can see it, his hips start gyrating like Elvis...

This made me laugh!! :D:D:D My boy also gyrates his hips if he gets even a quick peep at his toy pig!
