Chocolate Hello everyone... I am a nervous wreck right now. My baby Rosie is 5.2 lbs and I'm not sure but I think she ate a piece of chocolate cake... The piece of cake was the thickness and circumference of a dime. I don't know if she did eat some but I saw her chewing and I tried to look in her mouth but didn't see anything. I don't know what to do... Oh and she is acting normal. Can someone tell me if she is going to be ok or should I take her to the vet. |
Years ago, before everybody knew chocolate was such a disaster for dogs, I used to use......wait for it!!!.....milk chocolate chips as treats and for hypoglycemia prevention on a little boy I had! Now, they didnt get a 1/2 cup of chips...maybe 4-5 little chips, maybe twice a week....but I never had a sick pup and those babies all lived to 14 to almost 17 years of age. I am certainly NOT encouraging doing this, especially now that we know the harm it could cause. But I dont think you have killed your baby with a TINY, small piece of chocolate cake she may have gotten! At 5+ pounds, with a piece that amounts to a smidge, I wouldnt be worried if it were me! |
Thoughts are with you and your little one! I have no clue about this myself but hope it all works out for you and her and that she is okay!! |
Interesting chart where you can plug in the weight of your dog and see what the potential effects are for the amount/type of chocolate. The Chocolate Chart Interactive - National Geographic Magazine I wouldn't worry about it too much since it was such a tiny piece...hopefully you won't be able to even tell that she ate it. |
The size of a time? If yes then it wil not cause toxicity. If made with xylitol call the vet. Worst thing is possible tummy upset otherwise. No worries. |
Update Just wanted to let everyone know that my Rosie is ok... You guys were right, there was no need for me to worry... Thank you once again... |
I'm happy to hear all turned out fine with Rosie :) |
I was freaking out because while baking cookies...my son fed at least 3 chocolate chips to the dogs. They were fine. Glad all is well with your pup too |
My cousin's sister in law's dog ate a whole box of liguor filled chocolate and all she had was a hangover. Anyway I'm glad Rosie is okay. |
