new yt parent :pNew yt mom here...any suggestions on how to get my10 week baby to calm down. She seems to be panting alot? I downloaded a white noise app on my phone which has helped her fall asleep to the "heartbeat" |
I'm not sure that if she's panting a lot, it's only a "she needs to calm down" issue. Personally, I'd take her into the vet to make sure there isn't an underlying issue with that first. If there is no health issue causing it, then maybe try one of those calming sprays on the market. I hear some of them work very well. Also, congrats on your new little one and welcome to YT! Would love to see pics :) |
Did you just get her? Is she stressed with the new adjustment? She is still pretty young to be leaving her mom. Is she eating and drinking? Not sure what " calmed down" means but she may need to see a vet, as the others have said. Good luck and Welcome to YT |
Welcome. I don't know anything about the panting, but I do agree a Vet may be necessary. Have you picked your vet yet? Has she been to see the vet for a checkup? If you are concerned, that may be the thing to do. |
Hello and welcome to YT. Are you noticing anything else going on with her. Drinking a lot or not eating?vI would take her to the vet and get checked out. If the vet clears her, talk to the vet about it also. How is her environment. Does she have a little safe place. Maybe get a small crate put a pillow and blankets and cover it. Make her a little cave. Also talk to your breeder. See what she would do with the pup. She have a crate or something else. See if you can get a little blanket with her litter mates or mothers scent on it. It might sooth her. |
Hello! Welcome to YT!! I'm sorry that I do not have much advice for you, but I hope your baby is okay and is just excited. Just try and make her feel comfortable and not to overwhelmed. I would love to see pictures of her if you have any! Yorkies are the best dogs that I have ever owned, congrats on your new little baby =) |
Are you in Chandler AZ? That's where I live. Have you had a vet check yet? Lots of unethical breeders in AZ who couldn't care less about the health of the pups they sell. The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America (YTCA) recommends a MINIMUM of 12 weeks before the pup leaves the mother. Yorkies are incredibly vulnerable to so many things the early months. Don’t stimulate or play with her too much and make sure that food is available 25/7 to prevent hypoglycemia. |
