Teeth loss I am new here and truly hope I am posting this correctly. I have an 11 month old he lost a tooth today and it appears that another one is loose. I though he lost his puppy teeth at around 7 month. Is this something I should be concerned about? He is playing normally but has been slow to eat the last couple of days. Please let me know if he needs to go to the vet. |
Yorkies are notorious for having a hard time losing all of their teeth on their own. Maybe yours just held onto this baby tooth but finally lost it on his own. If it were me, I'd still just pop into the vet's office to ask if he thought all was well. If that tooth was loose and another one seems to be, this would be why he's eating slowly...his mouth is sore/teething. And, welcome to YT! Please let us know what the vet says and post some pics of your little one..we'd love to see him :) |
I hope it is puppy teeth he is having trouble with. They should have been gone at around 6 or 7 months. Many Yorkies do have trouble with retained puppy teeth. Most owners have them removed by the vet when they are spayed or neutered. If you can, check in his mouth for double rows of teeth in the mouth. Retained baby teeth can cause infections and other problems in the mouth. If they are his adult teeth he is having trouble with that would be a problem, too. Usually the baby teeth are behind the adult teeth but not always. You should be able to tell the difference. Sounds like he may need to be checked by his vet. |
