Lori's Loveable Pups & Puppy Mills! I recently got a teacup yorkie and she's absolutely stunning. She's very active (bites me all the time haha) and even let's me kiss her! She doesn't eat very much and isn't very loving....she prefers to nap alone then on top of me :( but either way, I took her to the vet and he said she was a beautiful sog and was extremely healthy. Now, since I've fallen in love with my baby, I decided to research on other dogs and hear others stories. And I read a lot on puppy mills and now I'm afraid my baby came from a puppy mill.... Help, is lorisloveablepups.com a puppy mill? Aditional Info: We were suspicious that she was a fraud because she always refused to send us pictures of our pup after we bought her (We texted her asking for pictures and she ignored our texts and/or sent us pictures that we ha already seen) but in the end, Minnie arrived at the airport December 1st as playful as can be with health certificates, vaccinations, AKC papers, microchip registration and a 2 week supply of Bil-Jac puppy food. Paid 2 grand for the honeybun. Never did get why she never sent me pictures....it'd be nice to get some ideas as well. By the way, greetings from both myself and Minnie, my 3 months old baby yorkie. We're new members, but I've read from here A LOT since I got my yorkie, just decided to become a member! hehe We'll be avid posters so beware ! Sending love from the beautiful Island of Puerto Rico xx :p Proud Mama Julie & her honeybunch Minnie :aimeeyork |
Welcome to YT, Julie and Minnie! :) I'm not sure why she wouldn't send pics, but it's good that she's healthy and AKC registered. |
Hello and Welcome to YorkieTalk. Honestly it looks like it probably is a puppy mill. First off there is no such thing as a teacup its a word bad breeders and puppy mills use to jack up the prices of there dogs and lots of people who bought a "teacup" end up with a 12 pound yorkie. Second she has way to many dogs to be breeding them in her house and giving then personal attention. I think if this is not a puppy mill it is at least a broker and brokers get there pups from puppy mills and bad breeders. I didn't know about brokers when I got my yorkie who came from a puppy mill and she is 16 pounds and has had lots of health problems. I hope your pup doesn't have any health problems but you might want to get pet insurance on her. There are some other things off about the site as well. |
Please consider another breeder in the future. Glad your baby is healthy, a little independance is a good thing. |
1 Attachment(s) There are a number of things about the website and verbiage that bother me. Just buzz words like teacup, rare, and unique bother me. I have a 'golden' Yorkie...she lost all her black as a result of a color fault and there is a specific genetic reason for the non-conformity...which this website touts as rare and unique. Mia's golden hair is gorgeous, IMHO...I'll attach a photo of her so you can see...but an 'incorrect' color for a Yorkshire Terrier...something I do not care about since I am not showing her in conformation, but not a selling point that commands higher prices or should be featured on a website. Another thing that bothers me, just from the couple minutes I looked at the website, is soooo many puppies that are captioned as being "Sold" but still listed on the "puppies available" page. There is more I found unsettling from my brief viewing, but that's enough to steer me away from there. However, you don't know what you don't know, and you have acquired a fur baby whom you love. So, there you go. :D Hi, and welcome, Proud Mama Julie and Honeybunch Minnie ! :yorkiesar |

Puppy mills often make lovely websites that misrepresent what they are breeding. Many times they use pictures they have stolen form other websites. It's too much to go into but I would advise you to stay on YT and read as much as possible. The defects that people who claim to breed "tea cups" are creating are many and most of them do not appear until after the first year. Please look into the genetic problems that are being created by puppy mills so that you and your vet can be watchful for possible onset of symptoms. It would also be good if you read up on puppy mills and why many people are against them. The dogs are kept caged in filthy little cages for all of their short lives and the people who run mills care nothing about producing healthy pups. There is a lot of science involved in the proper breeding of purebred dogs. When people think they can disregard proper breeding practices they end up creating nightmare scenarios for both the pet and the new owners. I hope you pup is one of the lucky ones. |
Hello and welcome to YT. As the others said she is a puppy mill. Now just make sure you feed her well and keep up with your vet checks. I am glad she is healthly. Enjoy her. |
welcome to YT I am sure you pup is adorable post pictures when you have a chance. What type of tests did you vet run or perform that enabled him to tell you she was healthy. |
Mine came from a puppy mill before I knew any better, I thought since it was a little old couple I was safe and honest so I purchased my "teacup" runt of the litter that cost more and now have a 12.8 lb thank goodness healthy puppy.. I know because I freaked out after reading on this site and paid $400 for a full panel blood work test :p |
Hello and welcome to YT! I'm sure Minnie is adorable! I always say there's nothing cuter than a yorkie puppy! Looking forward to seeing pictures of Minnie! |
Welcome to YT!!! |
Ok all. I have been a member of yt for quite some time. I purchased a fabulous dog from lori who is amazing. In my opinion she has fantastic beautiful HEALTHY dogs. Since I purchased my girl I have kept in contact with lori..over a year and a half....she is always willing to help and is a wonderful friendly honest person. I wouldn't hesitate in buying another dog from her and plan to do so in the very near future again. |
