Want to be a yorkie mommy Hi all!! I'm a newbie to the site and interested in a female yorkie puppy. I've contacted a few breeders but I was wondering if anyone has someone they can recommend, especially for the upcoming holidays. Also i noticed that pricing for puppies can range from a couple hundred to 1200-1500, what is the reason for the price difference? Should I be concerned if the pricing is on the lower side? Thanks so much for all your help!! :aimeeyork |
Sorry I forgot to mention I'm looking for breeders in or close to Massachusetts |
WELCOME:wavey::wavey: Have you considered a rescue? Sure there are some in your area if you search it. I know in FL there are many...GOOD LUCK |
i know a breeder whos in newport nh...not sure when her next litter will be but my cedric has had no health issues and i paid way under that amount for him. if you want her number just send me a pm. |
I would worry about to low of a price as well as to high of a price. It cost at lot of money to breed and do it right. The things you want to look for are a breeder who does health and genetic testing, doesn't let the pup go home until 12 weeks (they grow slower then big dogs and are still learning from mom up until then), make sure you can see where the pups and parents are living, you will want to see both parents, AKC is the only American registry that is worth having, if the breeder uses words like mini and teacup they are only trying to make money because there is no such thing, you want to make sure the moms they are breeding are not under 5 pounds, that the dogs are not staying in out buildings or outside all the time, you want to make sure the breeder is not breeding a lot of dogs at once and not breeding mixes. I am sure I have left out something but you should check out The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America they know what is best for yorkies and set there rules to make sure the breed is being bettered not just breeders selling for money. I hope you find a great healthy pup. |
I would look into the CT breeders or Clover Hill Yorkies in NH. |
Hi rubymoon2072! I saw your post on the thread. I would love to have the breeders info. I've contacted a few breeders I found through some internet searching but no luck yet :( Hopefully I'll find a new little bundle soon! Thanks so much! |
