Hi I am a newbie Hello everyone! I have 2 yorkies.....one weighs 5 pounds and one weighs 8 pounds.....they are not siblings, but both are 1 year old. Can you tell me when they will stop growing and when they are no longer considered puppies? Thank you, I appreciate your help and look forward to posting soon!:) |

Welcome to YT! Most people say they stop growing at around 18 months. I think that's about right with all dogs (all I've had anyway), so it's around that time for the most part, I'd say :) |
Officially a puppy is considered an adult at 12 months. But most dogs do continue to grow and develop more muscle and weight after the 12th month. It is at a much slower rate and depends on the dog as to how much it will grain. My Gracie was a slow grower and continued to gain weight until she was about 15 months old. She was really tiny as a puppy so I was glad to see her finally develop some muscle and additional fat. Are you concerned about them growing too little or too much? |
