Cottage Cheese and Regular Cheese Can i feed my biewer yorkie cottage cheese or even just regular cheese? |
I asked my biewer's breeder this question last night and she said yes. |
A teaspoon of cottage cheese a day is usually fine for a small dog and is a good source of calcium. Regular cheese in not a good idea. You always want to avoid fatty things like cheese as the dogs cannot digest most milk products very well. Tiny amounts of a low fat cheese may be OK on occasion but some small dogs are better off having something else as a treat. |
Cottage cheese is a great treat! Perfectly acceptable! |
Cottage cheese is ok. Low fat cheese only in very small amounts. Maybe as a reward. I would not give a lot |
We give cottage cheese a lot. If regular cheese, it's low fat string cheese only, and tiny amounts, like the size of a #2 pencil's eraser. We gave too much once and she got soft poop. Soft stinky poop that stuck to her butt hair. Yuck. |
Charlie loves cottage cheese and he tollerates dairy products with no issues so he eats regular cheese too it is one of the few proteins he can have with the MVD |
Joel eats all kinds of cheese with no problems, he's a cheese monster lol But I should probably give him less anyway |
Jackson only gets low fat string cheese for special things - agility training, recall training mostly. I try to keep it very high value. It doesn't seem to bother him. |
I have given Lil' Miss Izzie on occasion very small amounts of medium cheddar cheese and she has never had a problem. I have not tried cottage cheese, will give that a try :animal36 |
chester loves cottage cheese the low fat and cheese can be to fatty, use sparingly |

I read somewhere, where all Dogs were Lactose Intolerant. But, I've fed my guys Cheese (sometimes a pretty hefty slices) since they were pups, and never had a problem. |
