What is your Yorkies exercise routine? We don't really have a routine, per say, as we often switch it up. But generally speaking .... Jackson gets at least a 15-20 minute game of outdoor fetch/frisbee almost every day. He runs up hill while doing this as well. We live on 3 acres on a huge hill, so I just let his long line drag while he runs. About 3-4 days a week, we go for a 2-3 mile walk. Approx one day a week, we do a walk anywhere between 4-7 miles. About two days a week, we spend at my fathers house with his big fenced in yard, and Jackson enjoys running full speed chasing me on the four wheeler (while I'm on the opposite side of the fence) LOL. He does this generally for 30 minutes straight and we'll do it twice a day or so, for two days. So about an hour of sprinting each day. Oh and Tuesday night is our agility classes currently. If some of his 'doggy friends' will be at the dog park, we'll go meet them up there, that happens about once a week. Rainy days and such call for short games of fetch down the long hallway or up/down the stairs. |
Wow Jackson is a lucky dog! Uni's consist of sleeping all day at work. But we do play fetch in the morning and at night once we get back home. I have no choice. She gets a ball and squeaks it on my leg, then drops it and barks at me non stop until I do. |
Hence the name "Action Jackson" LOL Well, I take Joel on a walk everyday and we play in the backyard pretty much whenever he goes potty, he only lasts about 15 minutes until he wants to be picked up from his feet getting cold. Lately he doesn't want to be outside much since the temp has been below 0:( |
Great Exercise Week Brit! Razzle gets two small walks a day. 15 minutes or more. Razzle swims once a week now as it is too cold for the lake. Otherwise we are in 3 0r 4 times a wk for 30 minutes or more. We play find the toy, and or do obedience outside or inside for another 15-30 minutes a day. He fetches in the backyard for about 10 minutes - or less - if I get tired of Magic who is crying in the house cause we are out in the backyard. Magic is on exercise restriction right now. Razzle is almost a constant mover in the house. He loves to run up and downstairs. Jump up and off couches and window ledges. He is a very sturdy boy. Summertime is really our major exercise time - we all love summer here! |
Mandie's work out buddy is her big "brother" lol Her exercise consists of once in the morning before work and once in the evening when I get home...chasing after big brother as fast as they both can go from one end of our huge yard to the other and back and again. Then, sometimes they turn and chase each other (Mandie is always the instigator in that lol). She'll jump at my boy and make him chase her and she'll run in circles around a potted plant and a lawn chair. Other than that, they will "wrestle" around inside every night after dinner. |

I forgot about swimming! Jackson swims all summer long in my dads pool. Summertime we actually tend to get less exercise though because he HATES the heat, so we don't really do walks longer than 15-25 mins. So his main form of exercise is indoor stuff and swimming in the summer time! Winter, we are a lot more active. |
Callie doesn't get the exercise she should. She does like to run up and down our fence a lot because of the cat next door (she doesn't really know what one is) then we play chase a couple times a day through the house has well as tug and go get the ball (new house is a lot bigger). When Sammy comes over it is pretty much run any and every where and they case each other through the house and everything. I am going to either start walking her more or put her on the treadmill I know it would make her feel better. |

Gracie gets at least 2 20 to 30 minute walks a day. The late afternoon walk is usually faster than the morning walk. She seems to want to sniff everything in the AM but we cover a lot of ground. Usually we play at least 2 games of indoor or outdoor fetch through out the day. She knows exactly when it is time to go for a walk and starts watching me to see if I am ready. If I get busy doing something else she will eventually bark at me to remind me that it is time. Obviously the high point of her day is the walk. |

Harley's exercise consists of chasing his big brother around our back hard ( which is 1/3 acre ) then running laps in the house usi g hs big brother as a stepping stone and jumping off him.. Lol I'll have to get it on video some day. We also go for 3 mile walks everyday but that's for the Dane, by the end of our neighborhood Harley ends up sitting in the stroller with our daughter lol |
Our new puppy Maggie Mae has become Prissy's and Jasmine's 'exercise routine'. Maggie 'exercises' them thru out the day and by night fall all three of them are pooped and ready for bed. |

Aside from jumping or walking up his doggie ramps and steps and up into the den window still from the couch cushions about 15 times a day, we walk once a day outside almost every day in the week. Im just resuming some activities after hip surgery a year ago and complications so I am still quite limited. We play fetch 3 or 4 times a week and he has his backyard to dash across chasing his squirrels and chase up and down the fence if anything should go down the alley and he sees it from the den window, he barks to get outside where he can run up and down the fence and bark where it was. When Gracie and Rusty, the Corgi's from next door are out, they chase up and down the fence endlessly, at least Rusty and Tibbe do. The rest of the time he just runs the perimeter of the yard when the spirit moves him. Some days he's out there 8 or more times a day, and some about 4. He occas. has 25 trip days when it is sunny and I feel like it. His obedience and trick work don't involve exercise other than his jumping over his agility jump, which he does 8 or 10 times each session. He chases his balls, kongs and such around playing but that's not vigorous exercise. When I feel like it, I now can chase him when he has a chew chip in his mouth and sometimes he runs hard while I'm just moving fast but he'll run circles around me. He's still under-exercised but until I can do more, it has to be that way. |
