Aggressive Behavior? Hello everyone! I have a 4 months and 5 days old Yorkie female puppy. I've noticed that , eventually, when she plays with the toys(a ball, a leather bone and a rubber bone-like dog), she grunts. Specially when the toy left from her mounth sometimes or she's pursuing it. She is 9 days with us and just barked once. Also, when she wake up or someone known come back at home, she becomes very exited(the tail spins very quickly). She jumps, run fast, but, eventually, when we cuddle and play with her, she gives some small bites in the middle of the excitement. Is it signal of future aggressive behavior? Should we be warned about this? Best regards, Felipe |
I don't know what you mean by grunting but most terriers do like to "play kill" their toys. Terriers were bred for killing rodents so remember it is in their blood to be some what aggressive. Just be careful not to let her bite you hand even when playing. It's fine if she plays with her toys just make sure she knows that biting the hand it off limits. Give her a good sharp "NO!" when she touches you hands or feet. You don't have to scare her. Just enough so she knows you "serious" voice. It would be a really good idea to teach her to fetch a ball and make sure she gets a lot of exercise to help her run off her energy and that way she won't be so energetic that she is a constant bother. |
No she is just being a puppy. Say no and stop playing when she does that. |

She's actually very calm. Sleeps a lot, but when wakes up, wants to play a little. I'll keep trainning her, i've never had a dog before and i'm loving it! :) Thanks |
