I feel so stupid. I got an email from a woman who said she wanted to give me her yorkie. I was so excited as I am new to all this. She had to know I wanted another one and knew about My Kaytlyn and her mommy passing and how hard it was on both of us. She said all I had to do was pay for the shipping. Wow I thought $200 and I have another yorkie!! Money is tight here right now but I really wanted to get another baby for soon because I am so worried about Kaytlyn being so lonely. I can't afford to pay more than that. I guess I am to nieve. I trust to easy. Anyway I went to the expert cuz I knew she would know what to do. Thanks Villette for telling me it was a scam cuz I sent the lady an email back ( she was emailing me every 5 mins) and told her I needed references and I havn't heard from her since. Why do ppl want to prey on ppl. Its a nasty, mean world out there. I just wanted ppl to know that this was happening and that maybe next time ppl wont be as stupid as me. |
Oh sweetie - I know it's hard to be so skeptical but when it comes to the net if something sounds too good to be true - it usually is.... and there is NO way of getting the money back. So...if someone falls for this - they are out their money AND no puppy comes - it SUCKS. It's a BIG scam travelling around the net - there are too many to count these days and always remember - There are people who will say anything to get your money these days. They do this for a LIVING and are very very good at it.... Remember - emails from Nigeria and other countries are all pretty much scams and they can come up with some pretty sad stories - all to get YOU to part with your hard earned money. You just happened to be smart and question it... you were NOT stupid....so way to go for using your common sense. I only told you what you suspected already |
The good thing is that once you are scammed, you can smell the next one from a mile away. |

But in a perfect world - we wouldn't FALL for these scams...I just hate hearing when someone is taken - they get their hopes up over a puppy - and then are out the money AND the puppy - it's terrible. The net is a VERY Scary place these days - it's changed alot. :( sometimes I think the criminals are taking over the world |
I am so sorry you were being tricked. The net is a controversial way of looking for a and finding a pet and just like V said if it seems to be to good to be true it usually is. |
This proves to us AGAIN that it's VERY hard to trust over the net. Don't feel stupid, be happy they didn't take you for a ride! |
I am just glad that I didn't send them the money...I would feel a lot worse I guess. |

look at it as a learning experience :) cause you came close ....but you FOILED the would be robbers ! That awful woman has already moved on to the next potential target. Now...you can work on that puppy and hopefully you'll find someone honest and who really does have a puppy for you - (you can bet that woman didn't)....there are people out there who are for real......just be patient and ask LOTS of questions and GOOD LUCK ! |

I am not warning against Puppyfind just this scam. The ad reads something about they have been transfered to Africal for Mission work. What a crock in the name of religion to throw you off thinking that it has to be honest if by a missionary. Not true, I was curious cause I keep seeing ads with the same dog picture and I e-mailed it ( I don't need a puppy ) to see what the deal was and it changed with each e-mail. If it wasn't so decietful it would be funny how they try to sucker you in for what ever they think they can get from you. First it was 300 and when I said "no problem" they went to 500 then 1000. Just a caution BUYER BEWARE Don't send money to some one you don't know unless you can check and as Villette says "if it sounds to good to be true- it probably is" :( |
I wasn't on puppyfind.com. They had to get my name from here. This is the only web site I go to about yorkies. |
they can come on here and read the posts - target potential people and then contact you - it's really easy with the net being so huge.... and these people know what they're doing - just think - if they nail 1 out of 10 people - it's STILL free money in their pockets. |
I forgot about being on dogster but I don't state that I want a another one on there. |
Wow, that is the first I heard of this scam, Unreal, but I guess, I'm not surprised. We get fax's and emails EVERYDAY to help these people out in other countries and they will deposit this HUGE check in your account and you just have to send them $500.oo back and you get to keep the rest, and blah blah ,, what a joke, I just can't imagine, the effort and energy they put in these scams, if they put that much energy in getting a real job,, they probably would have that kind of money. :thumbdown  |
I agree that some people out there are just heartless. There are alot of scams out there and even more so now with the holidays. My friend that just had puppies gets phone calls all the time for puppies. Not to be mean but people call her and make up these stories about how much they are in need of a puppy. I dont want to offend anyone I have a disabled child my self and my friend has a more severe handicap child. These people call her and say that they are handicap and should donate a puppy to them. I thought it was a freak thing maybe he felt someone owed him a puppy but then she got this phone call 8 more times from different people. Thenthey want sympathy and act like you are a horrible person for not giving them a pup since they are handicap. she has no sympathy cause her son is severe, but why call someone and make them feel horrible so you can gain? there are alot of scams whether your looking or selling. people lie and dont think of the feeeling that are being hurt in the process. If you want a yorkie you can adopt one from a rescue much cheaper then from someone online. as your looking just save a little more money maybe you can get closer to your goal of having a pup. it was hard for me to trying to get my first yorkie. see the more research you do the better you will be later. if i was able to research pedigrees before i bought my male yorkie i would have known that his breeder was inbreeding. no my baby is perfectly fine so far and she bred father to daughter wich i was told was ok but i still felt scammed she should have told me when i put a deposit down on him. I ordered his pedigree and i was heartbroken when i read it. i felt like i was scammed into buying a puppy from someone that didnt care about her dogs at all with the inbreeding. Boy did she put up a front. i was nieve and believed she was a good breeder but to my surprise she has a new add in the paper every couple months selling pups. im in the procees of reporting her for puppy milling. when i called her she i guess has more female yorkies now so shes breeding my boys father to all these females and then keeping a female from a litter and breeding it back to her father my babys dad. for what reason i dont know but its wrong! so be very carefull save your money and resaerch or adopt from a rescue if money is tight. Atleast you will know what your getting and you will be 100% happy for the next 15 to 20 years with a health yorkie.GOOD LUCK IN YOUR SEARCH! |
I don't think the world is mean but I do think there are people out there that will take advantage of you if you let them. I think we are really in control when it comes to the freaks on the internet.I never read emails from people other than from people I know or people I have corrosponded with. If I don't recognize it I don't open. I'm glad you didn't allow them to take your money. Good job!!!! Brenda |
Yes, there are many scammers out there. It's easy to do on the world wide web. Sorry that you are so disappointed and kudos to Villette. That woman could have easily taken your money and you'd be waiting for a pup that would never come. :( |
That is sooo sad that someone tried to do that to you! :( I am glad you didn't give them any money though!!! |
Post up the scammer's e-mail address. In the automotive world, scams are just part of the game. So, in order to deal with it we call out the person directly. Usually there are stickies in the 'for sale' forum to denote anyone being dishonest. Trust me it works, and I have read some cases that reached court! Anway, the first step in preventing others from being scammed is to put the scammer in the spot light. Who knows, maybe someone else got scammed by that very person, and maybe able to get justice. You can even report it to: http://www.ifccfbi.gov/index.asp <--they collaborate with the FBI. MANY nigerian scammers get caught here  Be careful people....and always try to use paypal if purchasing, you can always fight it! |
Your not stupid at all. You didn't allowed this person to take advantage of you. It is so sad that there are people like this out there. |
So glad you didn't fall for that one. Some people on this net are just looking for a new scam. They can and do come on this site, read all about us and then come up with their plan. If I don't know what to do, I'll always ask, as my Mom always said there are no stupid questions, if we don't ask we won't learn. I'm sure you will find a new furbaby soon, who knows one just might find you, only it will be for real. Enjoy The Hollidays! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) |

If these people are getting names from YT then maybe a sticky thread should be posted in the for sale area warning people of this scam. This is not the first time it hasn't happened to a member here. :( |
here is the email addy she emailed me with... goodnesskim@yahoo.com.br It says Goodness Kim...Thanks everybody for making me feel better!! This is the best place to be. |
I cant believe all the scamming. I found this post. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25454 |
Hey Christy sorry to here about what happened I have had this happen to me once before and like every one here has said if it sounds to good to be true it is I almost fell for it a long time ago and then I started to ask more questions then the worse it got so ask alot of questions, this person got very mean with me and threaten me also so be careful, hope this helps, Kristi & Lilli |
I saw a similar ad - someone in California advertised that he would give his Yorkie free to anyone who would pay for the shipping.......yeah yeah yeah! First of all, I am sure he could give a free Yorkie to someone in his neighborhood or area who wouldn't have had to pay shipping. I should have contacted him and asked where he lived -- saying that I would be happy to drive by and pick up the Yorkie. I'm sure I wouldn't have heard from him. Some people's nerve - I can't believe it. And, unfortunately, some people fall for these things. Carol Jean |
Ya know my dad taught me a saying...if it's too good to be true it probably is!....in this day and age people get taken because they forget that...it really is a shame and especially at Christmas...the ones that really make my blood boil is scams that target the elderly.... |
