Gizmo got out of his crate!!! I had a big scare today! I drove home super fast hoping I hadn't left Gizmo in his crate too long to have an accident. When I got there I was greeted by an empty crate!!! Where is he??? I call for him a few times, and finally....he runs out of my bedroom. So now, very thankful he's ok, I prepare myself for destruction and pee/poop trails, but they're are none!!! Just a piece of shredded paper and he used his pee pads! ( which I've been trying to break him from) Maybe being pee pad trained isn't too bad. I'm very happy with this little guy. Now the question is, what did he do for 5 hrs with free reign to my apartment? Lol |
What a sweet little guy! Didn't get into any trouble or make messes! How sweet! |
Ok, first off, HOW did he get out of his crate? Smart little devils, for sure! LOL! Blazer has his regular crate for sleeping and travel but then when I'll be gone from the house I put him in a large pop-up travel kennel that I had bought for my GSP. That kennel has two zippers and I had zipped them both to the top, thinking that if they were on the bottom that he'd be able to bite them and pull the zipper open, well, he figured out that with them zipped at the top all he had to do was jump on the door enough and the zippers would go down and he could get out! Luckily he figured it out when I was still here so that I could remedy the issue. Oh boy was he proud of himself when he came upstairs to see me! LOL! |
How funny |

I haven't found any real messes. No chewed up couch, cords, etc. We'll see if he left me a secret "package" somewhere. But, so far, nothing! He's really a sweet little guy. |
He had a great 5 hours exploring everything |
Gizmo was a good boy. |

I would rather have them use the pee pad than the house. Good boy Gizmo. |

If the latch is wet and chewed a little, then I would think he's learned the same thing....:D I then resorted to a padlock on the latch - but then thought "if there's a fire or something, this is just dangerous...." So, with great trepidation, I gave him full roam of downstairs - starting with an hour etc. I totally puppy-proofed the wires etc - I didn't mind the odd poop (although funnily enough, there never have been any! :)) but I needed to protect HIM from HIMSELF!!! We've never looked back - Harry can look out of the front and back windows, he's relaxed and happy - at some point I think we all have to 'take the plunge' - maybe Gizmo's telling you he's trustworthy! :D Good luck! Gizmo probably knows how to open the crate. I can't tell you the number of times i came home only to have Brandi greet me at the door. She knew how to unlatched the door to the crate. After i was sure she was potty trained i eventually gave her run of the house. |
