*****Oh, The Joys of Dinnertime!!!***** Tibbe goes kind of nuts after eating any food I fix for him. When done eating, he comes running straight to me, kisses me wildly all over my face with his dogfood breath and then wallows and burrows under the couch pillows and throw, down on the floor and back up on the couch. He will get in my lap and wiggle around, jumping back up to kiss me ever so often, so happy. He seems truly joyful in every pore of his body. He just glories in his "special food" as I call it when I fix his food. He gets so happy he makes me happy. He does some form of this after all his on-demand meals but the kind I make in the microwave or even with hot water poured over, stirred, soaked and cooled, those are like he just ate manna from Heaven! He's so happy after eating those meals I've often wondered what in the heck is in those kibble pieces and cans of food. (He's still on his Science Diet I/D Gastrointestinal as I'm too chicken still to do the changeover that I know I must do. I know he can't live on prescription food for long and am close to changing him as soon as I work up the courage. I wanted to wait until after the holidays but maybe won't if I can work up the courage.) Anyway, this habit is something he's always had since I brought him home and hasn't slackened in all the time I've had him. He's the most grateful, happy, juiced-up dog after eating I've ever had. Neither Jilly, Teddy(for the brief time I had her) nor Scotty made this kind of a big deal out of mealtime and I wondered if any of you have a Yorkie that does this after eating. Does anyone else have a dog that personally thanks them after they eat meals and just acts so happy to have had a good meal? :animal-pa:animal-pa |
I wish Gracie was even half that happy after eating! She has never been very food motivated and I have to be careful to vary her meals in terms of meats in order to keep her interested in eating. Didn't you get Tribbe when he was a little older? Maybe he didn't eat so well in his past life and remembers to be very appreciative of what you do for him. |

He was thin compared to now and he seemed to have little muscle development. He couldn't even jump off the back porch step at first without falling when he landed. He acted brain damaged, as he would stand and look up for prolonged periods, stand in his water bowl, put one paw on something and look at it for a long, long time, kind of frozen there. He acted weird. And he was scared to death of everything in the house - TV, fridge, bathroom, magazines, you name it. I actually called trainers about making an appointment to have his learning abilities examined! I don't know if once he got decent, warm food it registered big with him and he has just stuck with the habit of joy or what but boy, he's 5 now and still having a great old time after his breakfast and dinner!!! He's just so cute in all his joy of food! (Like me with a good, gooey dessert! :D) |
That is so cute. With his ruff start, he is showing you how much he appreciates the yummy food you give him. He loves you. |

Why cant he stay on Rx food....if that is what he needs for an ongoing issue, he would have to stay on it. If he is enjoying his food, including his Rx food, I dont know why he couldnt stay on it.....? Ask the vet and let me know, because I dont see that as a problem! |
Several years back I rescued a little Sheltie. She had been going through out a neighborhood going through the garbage for food. On garbage day you could see the cans turned over and stuff all over the ground. I think the night people put their garbage out must have been the only time she ever ate. Anyway, one garbage day morning I went to that neighborhood, made friends with the dog and took her. It was not my neighborhood but the person I did know there did not know if she belonged to anyone or not. I socialized her and got her healthy. Eventually I found a really good home for her and she lived out her life with that family. Dinner time was always her favorite time of day but they always had to keep the garbage tightly shut on the back porch because they could never break her of the habit of going through it no matter how well fed she was!:) She was a sweet girl. Dogs like her and Tribbe just never forget what they were saved from.:( I know it is not doable but people who mistreat animals like the lady that had Tribbe should be made to live in a cage and endure the kind of hardship they have imposed on those poor animals! |
Tibbe is so sweet! Max likes to snuggle with me after breakfast and give me kibble breath kisses too. :) He and Teddy give me "kisses" on the hand or arm when I put their dishes on the floor for them. After they eat, they rub up against my leg like cats, lol. |

Gracielove: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Answer: Oh, that poor little thing - living on old garbage for all that time until you got her. I'll bet she did enjoy fresh, clean, good, healthy food actually made for little canine tummies in a nice warm kitchen. You did a fine thing giving her love, caring for her and providing a real home. I cannot imagine how anyone can mistreat dogs and allow them to live in little cages outside growing long nails, coats matting - I mean, what is the purpose??? Why in the world did she keep Tibbe? He wasn't breeding material at all - he's got so many faults, problem with his conformation - so why did he have to live like that? Makes me furious to think of my poor little social boy, who so loves constant attention and the good life, alone and cold and restricted to a small, lonely cell for the first 9 months of his life!!! No romping, running room - nothing. I wonder if that is why he is so OT now about so much. He spent so long - all his little puppy months, with no one to care or show off to and no fun at all - not even room to develop normally. I could just about throttle that woman who did that to my precious baby. He's full to the tip of his ears with personality and a gusto for life, intelligence and spirit and yet he was kept like a lab rat in a horrible cage. I know it is not doable but people who mistreat animals like the lady that had Tibbe should be made to live in a cage and endure the kind of hardship they have imposed on those poor animals![/quote] Quote:
