A good start Joel did his first bark out the window. He normaly will bark when he wants to see someone really bad, but this was his first protecting bark. There was a construction truck parked out front, he was watching it on the back of the couch for a long time but I just ignored him. Then a couple minutes later he barked once, it was so cute. It was like he was syaing "okay you've been there too long!" He knew it was wierder than usual. So I went in the room and he was just sitting in the middle of the floor waiting to see what I was gonna say, and I said "what is it?" and he went to the window and I pretended to check(like I didn't know what it was, lol) Then I said "Okay good boy, now no more barking" and he watched it some more without barking. I was praising him alot for being quite, then he just went to sleep, I thought it was cute that his first bark was something he knew was out of the usual, and he didn't bark after I checked and said okay:D I hope it stays this easy and doesn't get worse:) |
He is protecting all of his domain. Good Joel ! |
Great job, Joel!! :) |
Way to go Joel! Can you come train Rosie and Mikki to stop barking when momma tells them to? :D. |
Yay! Way to go Joel! =D I remember the first time DH and I heard our big dog (a GSP) give a protection bark! We had gotten him in May and our first daughter was born in July so this had to be August or September. We had all gone to bed and an empty coffee can fell off of the dryer. Buddy bolted up, went to the bedroom door and barked the biggest, most menacing bark ever! Wow, if it had been a person there I am sure that they'd be crapping themselves! We told him that he was a great boy and DH took him all around the house to prove that everything was ok. I've felt pretty darn safe ever since! =D My Blazer baby thinks that he's a tough guy and tries to protect us from everything. We're working on the "stop" command now. =) |
Can I get lessons on the stop command.. Also we do not need to bark at daddy mowing the grass, the wind, rain in the middle of the night, the roomba hmm now spiders you can keep trapping them in the corner and barking for daddy to kill them THAT I am ok with even if it is 4 in the morning lol |
