IMO the SPCA would not be a good place with a dog that small. I have heard stories about the SPCA's here in Dallas. She really needs a Vet that she will able to take her dog to for wellnes exams and any tests that may need to be done. |

Thanks everyone you all are so sweet. I stay in Duncanville it close to Desoto and Ceder Hill (hope you know the area lol). I saw on the e-net they were spaying dog for $20 for people in my zip code. I am really nervous about it because I know she also needs her baby teeth pulled as well. Im in college so cheap does sound nice but my baby health does come first. |

Yes- Good Vet Dallas Dr. Ernesto Hernandez on Shiloh Road, Dallas. neutered my little Liberty. As he was only 3 lbs, I was quite worried. He was very reassuring, & has a lot of experience with puny (LOL) ones. Do pre-op bloodwork!!! I bawled like a baby dropping off Liberty and he was very reassuring - did mot makw me feel silly at all. He explained how he would take careful measures and gave me regular updates. BTW, I pulled Liberty's medical folder to get the street # and Liberty stsrted sniffing and racing around as if he recognized scent of the papers!!! Amazing, these little critters. ;-) |

I dropped off Liberty early that morning and was able to pick him up at end of the day as all his vital signs were great. I was very nervous that evening. Liberty was very sleepy but did not act as if he were in any pain. The hardest part is the following day - keeping him quiet so he heals well. Wise prople on this site have suggested that it is good idea to get teeth pulled at same time so you dont have to risk anesthesia again. I had softened his food so it didn't hurt him to eat. If your baby avoids food while recovering, offer him Supplical, Karo syrup, etc., to keep sugar levels normal. Please keep us posted on your baby's progress through this. They say you can call as many times as you want to track his post-op recovery. I think it will be harder on you than your little baby. This vet is good. Once, I had a minor concern on a day they were closed but he happened to pick up the phone and he agreed to see Liberty that day anyway! That's what I call dedication! Blessings |
