bathing yorkie how often do you bathe your yorkie? We had jasmin for a little over a week and she has already had 3 baths. First bath was to clean her..then she potty on herself then tonight. She potty on herself today. I hope this is not too much. I don't want to do it but have to since she sleeps with us. |
First of all, I love the name! Jasmine should only be bathed every 2 weeks at the most because it dries out their skin. If she piddles on herself, try just shampooing the area that needs it. Or try the puppy wipes at pet stores, they will take the worst of it off. Enjoy your little girl! How old is she? |
Blazer usually only gets a bath once a week or once every two weeks, it really just depends on if he is stinky or not. (Or if he's been naughty and digging in a garden or something!) |
If we are lucky once a day but for the most part two showers a day... He invites himself in on our showers and barks til you wash him... Half the time I just act like I am putting shampoo in my hands and rub him lol |

:animal-pa:animal-pa My Huey gets a bath once a week unless he gets dirty-like at the beach, he got 3 baths in a week, but he was in the ocean & was salty & sandy. I keep his hair long and if I bathe him less often that weekly, he becomes very tangled. Once he is dirty, it is impossible to brush him properly so I have to condition him and brush him out. |
I did the samething when I first got Honey. Now I only take her a bath once a week. I cant do every two weeks because I notice she start to smell like outside and she starts to itch. |
ok glad i am not the only one giving them a bath when they are dirty. I don't want to but she keeps peeing and pooping in the kennel when we are not home. |
How old is your yorkie? |
she is 5 months old. she is a teapot. |
we are currently using the natural honey and oatmeal tearless shampoo. His uncle got him paul mitchel's for doggie tearless shampoo. haha. |
I LOVE the Therapet Fresh Scent shampoo. I used to use the conditioner, too, but have been unable to find it for a couple of years, even on line. Huey could jump in the river 5 days after a bath and come out still smelling like shampoo, not like wet river dog. |
Bathe you puppy as much as you need to. As long as she is getting a high grade food and you use an all natural shampoo you will not hurt her. A weekly bath is a good experience for a puppy as it helps them to grow accustomed to the routine of grooming so they will not fight is when they are older. Combing daily is also important. Puppies usually don't appear to need to be combed but do it anyway as the puppy will grow to expect it and will accept it as she gets older. If your baby gets wet from accidents frequently then you can do a partial bath in the sink if you want. Just wet and lather the area that got wet or dirty and rinse well. Keep her warm afterward or lightly blow dry if she is not too freaked out by the sound. Traditional shampoos that have sulfates in them are drying to the skin. There are several good all natural or organic pet shampoos and conditioners available. I use Yorkie Splash and Shine products but there are other all natural brands that many on YT use that work well also. What you are using sounds like a sulfate shampoo. Unless it says "all natural" most products may only have one or two natural ingredients in them. Read labels carefully. |
I would spot bath her. Bathing her too much will wash away all the natural oils and make her hair brittle |
