Sudden bad breath? Blazer is 5 months old and all of a sudden, just two days ago, he developed NASTY breath! What the heck? Could it just be from teething? I looked in his mouth and I do see a couple of really loose teeth near the back. Brushing his teeth doesn't seem to be helping the stink nor does giving him treats. Any ideas as to what the heck is going on here and how to fix it? |
No expert here, but I have heard they can get funky breath during teething. Hopefully, some one who is more experience will weigh in on this for you. |
Yes, teething causes bad breath. When they lose a tooth, food gets caught in the gum pockets and that mixed with blood causes a bad smell. It's still a good idea to get him use to the toothbrush; this will help keep his permanent teeth free from tartar, which eventually causes bad breath. |
Oh good, teething was the only logical thing that I could think of! Right after I posted I brushed his teeth AGAIN and there was some blood on the bristles but I knew there would be based on the floppiness of one of the loose teeth. |
AAAAND the floopy loose tooth just fell on the floor! LOL! |

My oldest daughter took it and "put it somewere special" to keep, I guess! LOL! Blazer has lost most of his baby teeth (I think) but this is the first one I've found. |

Lol! I've always heard that most dogs just swollow the teeth they lose. I guess that's why so many people don't realize that dogs have two sets of teeth during their lives! We used to have quite a few of our GSP's baby teeth, I'm not sure where they ended up but I haven't seen them in ages. |
