Groomer question... How old was your pup when you first took it to the groomer? Also were you afraid of your dog attacking the groomer? Amirah is very mouthy and doesn't sit still well at all. Any advice for my crazy pup? |
I also need to know when to take my puppy to the groomers for the first time. She has her last shots in the middle of November and I won't take her anywhere there are other dogs until she has her Bordetella shot. |
Anyone is well advised, not to expose a young Dog to others, until the standard protective inoculations have been administered. Having said that... Age shouldn't be a factor in choosing when to go to a Groomer. One wants to keep his animals looking good...ok. Ambient Temperature may be a factor for shortening their coats. One may not have the time to do extensive Grooming themselves. Grooming is at 'your' convenience, use a practical approach  Most of our animals love and want to protect us. I know that My Male Sneakers is a TOTAL terror, when someone approaches me, while we're out and about, however... All I have to do is "convince" whoever (groomer/vet tech) to take the Leash and move him away from me. He settles right down and goes along with them. Try that ! |
Darn that 5 minute rule ! PS: Bortedella is not an Inoculation. It's a Dead Virus which is administered by squirting a small amount of fluid in your Dog's nose. ;) |
Bella was 5 months, now 51/2 and it was time. Her hair was getting unruly, ears needed to be tip cut and just a professionally groomed. She did wonderful! The groomer had no issue with me staying and was highly recommended by her vet. Choose wisely............Good Luck |
Took my puppy around 5 months. He didnt like it but I knew I needed to start him early. I gave him weekly baths and played with his ears, face and feet. Hes 11 months and still doesnt like his face being trimmed but he will deal with it because he has to. I usually cut his nails at home and also clean his ears before his bath. |
I just groom Sonic myself |
