Dumb Poop Question Josie is coming home to this newbie family on TUESDAY! Just had a dumb question about the spot in the yard where she will poop and pee. I have been to peoples homes where they let the dog out back and it looks like a "free for all" with doo doo everywhere I step...........gross. Now I dont see myself in the mood to constantly pick up poo at 7am and 11pm etc. especially when its freezing outside......... so my question is: Do you clean up where the dogs go everytime they go, once a day, once a week, never (let nature do it). Just curious. |
Welcome:) Well with Rosco my big dog I pretty much clean it right away because Joel likes to "get it"lol But Joels I do every couple days. It's easier when it's frozen though, haha:D |
I try to do a poop pick up each day, but if it is cold and windy, I leave it till the next day. In the winter when we get snow, hubby makes a trail through the snow so the dogs can use it for potty. When that is up, I just have to walk around the trail and find the poop. I'd rather get no snow and walk around the whole yard though. LOL |

we have a large airedale @ 80 #'s, my husband does poop patrol for him once a week. the 2 little ones go poo in the fenced part of the yard so i clean theirs immediately... |
I clean up Harry's poop as he does it....especially when the leaves are falling as they are right now, and his seem to be a similar colour....:D Can't stand the thought of kicking up the leaves and hitting on something else.... :D Sally + Harry :aimeeyork x |
Ummm, I don't clean it up. :-) I let them out in our fenced in back yard and watch them from the door. I don't go out with them all the time, especially in the winter. And, they tend to have one or two spots, so its really not all over my yard. We don't ever go outside to the yard anyway. |
I pick mine up as soon as it done. I can't stand the thought of poop laying around in the back yard, it's nasty. It doesn't matter to me what the weather is I do it any way's. |

I don't think any question is too dumb to ask. I clean up poo once a day. I have 5 Yorkies and Hubby has a Lab. We have a doggy yard inside the regular yard so poo is easy to spot. We live in Fl. so snow is no problem. When I walk them, I pick up and bag as they go. |
Every poop it's easier. Bad weather Moki won't leave the porch and he has Potty Porch with artificial grass on the porch. Makes it easy. |
No such thing as a dumb question (but I will admit I laughed at the title of this post). I am a clean as I go person, I have little potty bags everywhere, in my purse, coat pockets, the car. You will find it gets easier as you start doing it and honestly I do want to step in it (have done that and tracked it through the house). |

Sometimes it's so tiny you may have a hard time finding it later. As previously mentioned, I pick up as i go. I usually carry baggies with me. If I don't have a baggie, I've found that a fallen leaf gets the job done. When I return to my house I empty the baggie in the toilet and flush away. There's no guaranty that your baby will have only one spot to go. Yorkies are notoriously difficult to train. Just getting him/her to go outside regularly is a blessing. I'm in NJ and during Hurricane Sandy, Lucy didn't go out. That kind of messed up her regular schedule and we're still working on getting her back into her poopy groove. Boy, she hates the noise of the generators around here! NO POWER HERE!!!! As an aside, MANY MANY MANY regular folks lives have been devastated on the East Coast of the unflappable U.S.A. As Billy Joel sang the other night, Staten Island has drowned. Hoboken is floating away. The Jersey Shore is no more. And there are so many in between!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DONATE TO THE RED CROSS. It's dropping into the 30s at night. Many are cold. Please consider making a donation now. It's not the rich folks with ocean front mansions who are hurting. It's regular people who have no place to go. Thanks.:animal36 Tracey |
Lexie goes on our deck in one general area, so it's easy just to hose it off. The turds roll into the back of a shrub row & become fertilizer. :D Can't walk there, so no worries about stepping in it. |
