new to yorkies just want to say thanks for letting me join and say good morning to all the members, this is my first experience with a yorkie, not having a lot of luck with him. keshiee:mad: |
Welcome to YT Keshiee. Have patience. Everyone here is very helpful. Just tell us how we can make your transition easier. Yorkies are wonderful dogs. But, they take alot of care, training, patience and a good understanding of the breed. |

Congratulations on your new little one - what's happening, why are you not having much luck? Is it the frustration of house-training - won't he eat properly? We'd love to know, so that hopefully someone can help :) We look forward to getting to know you. Sally + Harry :aimeeyork x |
Hello! Welcome to Yorkie Talk! Like you I joined this forum when I got my first Yorkie - Teddy - back in July this year! It's a great site for information and support and when Teddy was going through his whole screaming in the crate at night and day and general difficult puppy behaviour I got a lot of kind advice from other YT users. Teddy is now nearly 6 months old and has a lot of energy, he's nearly completely housetrained and is being castrated on the 30th November. Being my first ever time I've owne a dog and had to do all the training and routine work from scratch it has been hardwork but I can assure you I'm now starting to reap the rewards. What is troubling you with your pup? I guess my advice is to be consistent and patient! Although I don't have any children yet having Teddy has made me feel as though I have got a baby. It's quite a shock to the system when you're trying to housetrain, getting up at 5am and working full time. BUT it is worth it...you'll get there. My little Teds is loyal to me already and I only have to look at his face and I melt! Keep perservering, Yorkies are fab little dogs with bundles of character. But don't feel like a let-down or failure of you're finding it hard. I'm sure most people on here have experienced the same and felt it too! We're a here for you! :animal36 |
Welcome to yorkie talk I recently joined in September this year when I got my Sadie girl. |
Welcome to YT |
also new Hi there, I just joined this forum today but can't seem to post a new thread :( I have a 5 1/2 month old yorkie, Monty (large at 10lbs already). I have nothing but good things to say about my experience with him so far except that he seems to have a bit of attitude. I have heard that this is because he is afraid rather than aggressive and I am being patient with him. He is such a doll it is very hard to be angry with him no matter what he does. He definitely has me wrapped around his little paw. |
Welcome to YT, keshiee! Please share your specific issues you are having with your new pup, these ladies WILL be able to help! =) |

Welcome to YT! You have come to a great forum to get lots of information. Sorry to hear that you are having a tough time with your little one. |
Welcome to YorkieTalk! We would all love to help you with you issues... Please tell us what's going on :) |
Have to agree with Blowry! Yorkies tend to be stubborn and wilful. You need to show them who is the boss in a gentle way. Teddy definitely has "little dog syndrome" and will try his luck but the its normal for puppies to test boundaries - it's all part of them learning and establishing their place in YOUR pack. Share your concerns and we will all be here to support you. x |
Welcome to YT |
so sad to see a post that has a mad face and reads new to yorkies. All puppies can be a challenge and demanding, but they are just babies and have no idea about anything at the beginning. But just about everyone on YT thinks it is so worth it and if you choose you can get great advice here. I was lucky mine always had my heart from the moment I brought them home but not everyone is the same. I hope things turn around for you, but if it doesn't please don't take it out on the puppy. |
