Basil Wont Jump off or on anything. We have a little 1 year old Shih tzu named Basil and for some strange reason he will not jump from or onto anything. I thought maybe it was a medical problem but he was checked out and everything came out good. Anyone have any ideas? |
No idea but if there were no underlying medical issues, I'd be relieved somewhat! I have the hardest time keeping Toki from jumping onto the couch and other furniture. She's allowed on the couch and places like that but it's so bad for the joints over the years to be hopping up and down like that...not to mention if they land wrong jumping down from somewhere too high up. |
Does Basil try to jump? Teddy wouldn't jump up on the couch or bed for the longest time. I think he was afraid he wouldn't make it, so he would bounce on his hind legs and never go anywhere. Could just be Basil's preference. I agree with being grateful. :D It's better than the opposite problem. |
Did they do X-rays? Shih Tzu's do have a tend to have some skeletal issues like hip dysplasia. Is this something new for him or has he been like that since a puppy? |
If there is no medical reason for Basil not jumping....count your blessings. Hopefully he just doesn't like to jump. |

Oh, do count you blessings, if no medical issues as to reluctance. Less stress on those little knees. Zhoie has never jumped on or off anything. However, we did discover she had AAI at close to the age of 3. She underwent successful disc surgery on her spine, but still doesn't jump. Believe me...I never, ever want her too. I wouldn't encourage or attempt to train jumping, really not necessary and seems so much better to not do it. |
